I see some great pics like this when I stop at Dysarts in Bangor Maine enroute to the hunting cabin. Great old photos. I may try and sneak a pic or 3 when I go this year.
Those little lanterns can be dang hard to see when you are blasting up the narrows at night! I've spent a few nights rafted up to the booms on the way up the inside over the years. Great photos!
Then StormForce you have seen before as she has been towing logs for some time .Many cruisers take advantage of the rafts for a good tie up plus a good place to walk the dog after dinner . Although I've never had the nerve to hitch a ride !
For beach wood in this country a least 2 years , split and dried under well ventilated cover . For myself I shy away from beach wood. Our woodshed is incorporated into our house with the boiler room below. Backing up to the wood shed to unload . The little door just below the wood shed door is for putting the wood into the boiler room . The other side, you can still back up to the door to unload . Louvered barn type door with ventilation. The predominate wind is an east that blows from the other side 8 months of the year . The screening below the door is the fresh air intake to the boiler room and boiler . The floor joists under the wood shed are rough cut 4"x10" old growth Fir on 12" centers spanning 4' for all intents the floor is supported like a bridge deck . There is just to much logging waste wood available , so no need to burn beach wood . My Good friend Ryan having fun . Wood in this part of the world has to dried under cover , we get a lot of rain !
Thanks Allan, for sharing your memories with us. These are living shots that are simply fantastic. I always look forward to seeing more.
