I can well believe........................... Been there, done that !!!!!!!! Back in 1979, Ford Galaxie 500 Police Special, 460 V-8, lots of highway, a new set of brakes about every 150 miles, you fill in the blanks !!!! The Galaxie's replaced Plymouth Fury III's that had 440's.

You had a bronco II as well? We had 3 in our family, I drove the 2 86's we had a lot. As in they were my daily when the mustangs were stored. My ex fiancee had an 89 with a 5spd, and I drove that a lot too.

Yeah, had several...the one I fixed up and kept long term was an 85...it finally rusted out and I bought a clean one from NC to steal the body off of...but when I picked the body off my old one the frame mounts came with it. So I ended up switching my drivetrain and lift kit to the southern truck...then got it painted as the paint was southern fried. I need to find my pics of it...think they are on my old computer...

Dang Brendy- don’t know how you fit in that Bronco II.
You’re like 4’ taller than the roof of that truck.

Meh...yes and no...I had my fun with it...it was just taking up garage space anymore...maybe someday I'll regret selling it...but not yet.
The worst part was selling it to my neighbor...his 16 YO kid rolled it a week later...they fixed it, sold it a few years later...last I seen it was at a used car lot about 45 minutes from here...I bet some hilljack bought it and went mudding with it, tore it up...makes me a little sad if that's what happened...

Same thing with WWW's 79' Blazer we sold ~1996, except junior college kid. Rolled not too long after, kid is lucky it had a real roll bar, so sad, that thing was in exceptional shape beyond the worn out engine. I wish we still had that one instead of my 81', but, oh well.

brenndatomu our 84 broncoII was a maroon and silver xls. 2.8 cologne v6 with a c4 auto.

The EFI 2.9 version of that same engine was so much better, but the auto tranny wasn't as stout though. Hard to complain about an auto from the 80's that could go over 200k before needing a rebuild though.

Since I've got some time, I'll see if I can dig up old film pics of "stucks and oops!".

After having mine for 20 years, or whatever it was, I was kinda bored with having the 302 in it...I was contemplating switching to a diesel, but never found an engine that I felt was a good candidate...decided to put a 4.0 V6 and trans in out of an explorer (almost a drop in...I still think that would be a pretty sweet setup) I actually bought the donor Explorer, but never did the project, decided to sell the Bronco then and figured it would bring the most money with a small block in it...

Probably 20 years ago or so. Hunting with son, he would drop me off and walk to his deer blind. I told him to take the truck and instructed him how to drive through this huge mud hole between my spot and his. OK, he did fine a number of times and would always pick me up after dark....never getting stuck.

One evening, about 2 1/2 hours before dark, I hear one shot.....and smile! Yup, he got his first deer. I told him if that happens and he needs help gutting it, come back and get me. About 45 min later, I can here the truck coming. I meet him at the road and he is grinning! Congratulations!

I'll drive back to your blind says I. He asks, are you sure? Yup, you can tell me the story then.

Well sir, I got to the mud hole and slipped off the route we take through it and that's where the truck stayed! We ended walking to the deer, cleaned it, dragged it back to the truck and then started out 5 miles walk out to the blacktop. In a snowstorm Must've been a good 8"-10" on the road and falling heavily. Fell a nuber of times as it was so dark and couldn't quite be sure of my footing.

Still laugh about that bonehead move.....I should've let him drive!
