My son was in Chicago last fall and planned on coming here before heading home. He too had wanted to ride the boat across and loved it, even though it was really windy on the crossing. Who knows, some day I might even take the boat across just for kicks. But highly doubt I'll take the splitter...

That could happen. Judy was just talking about Elizabeth yesterday. She was hoping to see her again this year.

Dennis, we're with you. Many of us have had the 'pleasure' of needed surgery both civilian and military.
We can offer you suggestions and some ideas of how to cope with the medical arena.
My guys always said to ask a surgeon: " what's your success rate". Like any trade , there are the very skilled, and the not so.
Ask here if you want. Private conversations are the way, or a phone call.
    We are here.

Dennis, so sorry to hear about you needing surgery, and being in pain waiting for it. There is not much worse, and not knowing how the events going on may delay it is tough. Here's hoping it gets done soon and all comes out well. You are in our thoughts and prayers. You have many friends to lean on in times like these, don't forget that.

Backwoods Savage your health comes first and we are all concerned. I hope all goes well and if you need anything just ask your FHC family. Now is just not a good time to have a GTG.

We're learning day by day that it might be a long time before that surgery happens. Talked to a friend yesterday and he has 2 family members that were scheduled for surgery yesterday but both were cancelled until further notice. Well, we'll survive.

That's not a good sign. Still, hoping it comes through for you soon. If you get postponed, ask for drugs or alternative therapies... you probably have already.

One other thing Dennis. Pain is not always medically necessary if it affects your life.
Ask for options, and don't be apprehensive about the medical use of pain killers used with caution and proper physician advice.
    Be your own advocate.

Well sadly I've been on pain killers for a lot longer than most would probably believe. I hate it but you do what you have to do. It has something to do with quality of life. I remember having long talks with doctors about this. And no, they do not worry about be becoming hooked on the drugs as I self-check myself to make sure I don't take in quantities large enough to cause dependency. In addition, with some new laws it would be difficult to find any doctor that would allow you to take that much.
