What I don't fully understand is why the stock market has lost so many points. I get that it was running higher than what companies were worth so there was a correction. However; it's continuing to fall. Are people actually selling to avoid losing money? If so, do they not realize they have not lost any money until they sell? Once life gets back to normal, the market should come back. Maybe not to current levels, but it will continue upward. Not to mention that 401Ks and IRAs are now purchasing at a much lower rate that will become more valuable when the market does come back up.

Now I do get that some people are out of work, but currently, no major companies have failed due to this pandemic. Which means the mainstream media that started the hysteria really hit the mark in killing the economy for the upcoming election. I know people don't want to talk about the political side of this, and many feel that what I am saying is a conspiracy theory. However; you have to admit that the left has little chance in the upcoming election with the likes of Biden or Sanders. An economy in a recession would only help their efforts to unseat Trump. If you remember the mainstream media's reaction from the night of the election and pledges by the left to unseat Trump before he even took office, this is not that long a stretch.

If you look at the numbers, the Dow Jones Industrial was 28,992.41 on 2/21. Today it's 20,205.05. The day is not done. Over the past almost 30 days, the market has seen a rocket roller coaster ride. Now it seems everyone is waiting to see how Trump reacts. This will be the real test. I've heard every adult will be receiving a $1000 check. Not sure if that will do it, but interested to see how this all plays out. Tough to spend money to keep the economy going when we are supposed to be "social distancing".

Lots of businesses are closed or running at greatly reduced capacity. Retail, food service, travel, all taking a huge hit. That makes for a lot of employees missing a paycheck and not spending or investing. People aren't shopping for anything but groceries.
