Well, with things like they are, now's the time, to really get to know your neighbor. Say hi, ask if they need some help and just be a real neighbor. Oh, there's some that i know i just want them to stay away from me, and me from them. Its best that way. I'm not talking about helping some one for money, or trade, but, just to help them. Like the 83 yr old lady next door, the young couple you don't or haven't talked to much. The kids around your place, people like that. And, i'm probably one of the worst examples. I don't mind doing things by myself, on or at my place, i'm a pretty independent guy. I know a lot of people around town, and i've helped some of them off and on, just because. Not for a pat on the back or money, or personal gain, just because. My wife says i help others more than i help her. Might be, but her and i have been husband and wife now for 52 yrs, so, some thing must be working out ok. lol.

I don't keep a list of who i help or when i help them, don't need too its too much fun for me. Don't expect anything in return, but, a thank you if they remember. Times like this, helping some one just might make their day, make things a little easier for them. And, trust me on this, it'll make you feel better about yourself, and knowing that you did some one a favor for nothing in return, is well worth the effort you put out. Just some thoughts, these could be rough times ahead, and if i can make some one's life a little easier, bring it on. I'll ACTUALLY be the one who REALLY feels good about what i did.

Even in a small town like ours, there are quite a few living on our block that we haven't met. No strolling down the street greeting everyone and having a chat any more. Everyone is inside and busy on the internet.

Guess i'm one of the ''lucky ones'' no smart phone and i can find other things to do rather than stay on the computer. I'll make big wood into smaller wood, "woman's wood'' lol. friend of mine painted the inside of his house, that's a great idea. I've been out cleaning around the wood pile, and raking things around so i can clean up outside a little bit more.

You sound like an awesome guy! Thank you for helping all those people. We have become so nasty and distant to each other. We need to go back to the Golden Rule.

    Great reminder B.Brown ...
Thankfully we know our neighbors on our block. I help old folks in any store I might be in when I see a need.
    Definitely makes ya feel good.

I have a private facebook group for the residents in our area. Also phone numbers of some of the full time people in our area. During the High Park Fires at my previous home we had a group text thread, it was EXTREMELY valuable in ways no one ever anticipated. I just asked for that on our neighborhood thread. We Shall see.

My favorite neighbor is elderly and in poor health, wish he knew how to text, poor cell service here and we all rely on antennas for calls, if power goes out so does the ability to make a phone call, but texts eventually go through.

I'm not, ask my wife, lol. Seriously i enjoy helping people, and if they offer me money its tough to take it, i just enjoy trying to kind of motivate people and get them going. One friend of mine the guy with the tree, mentioned he'd be dead in 5 yrs. Don't tell me that!! Boy, i got on him, told him how there's hospitals full of people who would trade him places. And really got on him in a polite, but, firm way. Jeez, he's our retired mailman, i know him well, same with his brother, used to date their sister, we go way back. Don't tell me your probably going to die in 5 yrs!! By the way, you get out of what you put into, LIFE, abuse it, you'll pay, now is NOT the time to start slacking off on life. Fight all the way, never stop, never give up, hang in there and never say mamma !! When you get up in the morning, thank God for making it though the night, then when you go to bed, Thank God again for making it through the day!! Never Quit!! Your right about the Golden Rule, if we did that, the rest is gravy.
