Good looking firewood there. My Folks in Texas always burned Pecan and it is great heating wood as well as smoker wood!

Gonna be some work, but grab it all! Same family as Hickory, so you know it burns great.. :yes:Cover it well, if it's as susceptible to rot as Hickory is..I'm not sure.

Gonna try hand splitting this weekend. I read it’s tough to split and the tree guys cut the truck into several 6-10 inch disks. Not worth rolling to hydraulic splitter. This looks straight and even so we will see what isocore can do. Whoooooooooooooooooooooodddddd!

If you need to, cutting a "notch" in the top of the round to drop the maul into helps with hand splitting on the stubborn ones...2-3" deep is all you need generally...if the Isocore doesn't work, flip it over and use the hammer side to pound a few wedges into the notch...that will almost always get 'em started...

If you get nowhere hitting 'em in the middle, try slabbing off chunks by working around the edge.

If its green pecan you are gonna build up some muscle :axe:. Fortunately it looks like they are thinner pieces so maybe it will split ok. Also green pecan can be rather stringy like elm.
