As this is a new virus in many areas of the world, I don't think anyone can accurately claim a mortality rate. I'd agree the young and healthy will beat this with relative ease. As there is no vaccine, it clearly has never been prevalent. So, umm, I guess good for Lysol but bad for humanity? Sure, shame on the world for not being prepared for something we have known about. When there is no immediate $ to be made, there is no cause for action. That's the way it goes. I believe myself to be a rational person. The transmission rate, primarily, is the problem here. Once hospitals hit the tipping point, people then die who could be treated. For the loss of a few freedoms for a relatively small amount of time we suck it up and hope those hard decisions aren't forced on us. I'm not sure what the fake news, or government, has to gain from this? Not sure I follow the thinking behind this at all.

According to the WHO it’s easier to transmit the flu than Covid 19. Though preliminary reports suggest Covid 19 may have more secondary exposure risks the numbers are not accurate enough for them to be decisive. As far as mortality rate. Seeing as this is a new Virus the scientists are using numbers mainly from China although now incorporating worldwide. Here’s the rub. How many people in China and worldwide were infected but never tested? Wanna talk about throwing statistics way out of whack I can think of no easier way than that. The fact no one is mentioning that in our daily news suggests Kimberly isn’t far off track. Time will tell.

I work at a major University and I can tell you that it really has things in a tornado right now. Hope that it changes sooner than later but as of now there is a lot up in the air. Stores now on reduced hours and bars and restaurants either closed , doing curbside pickup or limiting the number of patrons. Hard to believe.
My understanding: Mortality or death rates vary a lot for the new virus. South Korea has a death rate of 0.66%. Italy has a death rate of over 6%. China's death rate is sliding down to 3%. The worst death rate is for people over 70 which can exceed 15%. The best death rate is near zero for healthy children because they experienced enough colds, a cousin to the new virus, to fight off the new virus. Flu death rates are around 0.1% and so the new virus is always much more deadly. Currently, our country is performing like Italy, not South Korea. Folks need to decide how many old folks they want to kill off, thousands or millions. Our country had a chance to get ahead of the new virus and failed. Now we get to decide between catching up or killing off the elderly. Wash your hands.

Take out here is almost never. We rarely go out to eat either. Once and a while for a special occasion or a treat ; no not Mickey D's or the King for a whopper. Thankfully I like to cook and eat so making dinner is pretty much a daily thing anyway. Cheaper , leftovers for lunch the next day and I know what I am getting. Not in any rush to go out and eat until this makes a U-turn.
Well how many people have touched the grocery’s that you are consuming in your home. It may be a few less than take out but not much.
This was not an attack but something for everybody to think about. I see people pawing all over stuff in the grocery store. or another thought how many people touch your mail before you get it. Or the cash in your wallet?
Oh absolutely, dont get me wrong i like takeout or a restaurant but not during a situation like this. Box came in from amazon today with snacks for my kids. It got opened on the screen porch and wiped down with disinfectant wipes. Just extra cautious rt now
I have enough to get me through the year, it was kinda a wise crack. I’ll be on the search soon tho as my current supplies for next year are not as dry as i would like it to be.
