Had to use the tractor, couple places it was sinking. Last week, UPS truck started up his main driveway, when he stopped, he stepped from truck straight to the ground, had to get road grader to pull him out. Josh, my neighbor, said "I have 4 ways to get to my house and get stuck on all of them". He is going to leave his truck on the dry side, walk across the boggy part and ride his lawn mower to his house.
Had a GREAT day Monday, doing what I love. We were able to go do a clean-up and get some nice oak logs. The big tree had fallen on the RV. We cut all the smaller stuff for him to have some wood, about a 6' high stack. Gave the MS180 and the XS029 a good workout today. Even used it to noodle some buZZsaw BRAD Got 4 10'6" logs off the main trunk. Used the tractor to get last section out of the dirt Tractor couldn't pick it up with the forks, so used tongs skid it out, set one end in trailer, then pushed it in. Cut a couple smaller trees to widen his drive around the cabin. Got a nice heavy load of red oak Had to use the tractor to finally get it out. Made it home
Thats some nice oak. Tractor is such a labor saver and a handy thing to have for firewood. Now theres something you dont see that often...noodling with a 180. Pretty grain in the noodled log. What is the volume of the trailer? Great job as always!
Thanks, buddy. It's a 7x12 with2' sides, 10K with 7k payload. It will hold 1 1/3 cords stacked on. I was probably overweight...lol...the little 180 actually did well with narrow kerf chain. I did use the XS029 on a few pieces.
My hunny and I got another box full split and stacked of the white oak with a few pieces of cherry mixed it. That first row in the shed is about done now
Oak score came thru up the road from our son's house that I saw Saturday. Tree man was there, taking down another big oak for the homeowner. He let his guy load us 2 loads with the bobcat. 1st load was trunk sections from another tree he took down Friday. 2nd load was limbs and pieces he was taking off the big oak. This is waiting for me in the morning. Main trunk of the big oak. More trunk and limb sections One of her neighbors is supposed to clean up the smaller stuff for some wood. If he doesn't do it soon, I told her we would jump on it like a duck on a June bug. The BAD NEWS...when I was dumping the 2nd load this morning, I thought the R side door latched open, even looks like it in the picture... It didn't and I was on opposite side with the dump control. Door swung almost straight back and dug into ground. Tore top hinge almost completely off door, twisted and broke bottom hinge where it won't stay on pivot bolt, had to use pry bar to finally get it to shut. Call trailer place, which is 100 miles from us. Yes, they have door assembly in stock, $950+ ...can't buy a single door, it's both doors and frame...at least it will look new... If I was close to Screwloose or some of my other talented metal working/mechanic brothers, they could probably fix it.
Got home yesterday morning, got trailer, minus tailgate assembly......and went to tree site. They loaded the first load for me......twice...I was talking to thr tree man and his loader guy put all 3 big rounds on the front of the trailer......hitch was literally sitting on the ground, had 50-6 lbs air in the bags too. He managed to get the biggest round off the top, and I. dumped the other 2 off...reload again.. Miz Carol posing by the butt cut from the big oak... We then left to make the 100 mile trip to Cordele to the Big Tex trailer factory. Got the new tailgate assembly, went to put it on, didnt fit just right, not made the same. I wasn't a happy camper......they said the company had changed the design a couple times. Needless to say, I am going to have a friend fix my old door assembly and take this one back... We did make it back over to the site for another load. Didn't get a full load, I was the other big piece that went above the one on the trailer, popped a hydraulic line at the control valve......, thank GOD it went out the side, not back into my face...going to go get a hose this morning. The neighbor that is getting some of the wood came over, we helped him get one pickup load so far... The life of a wood hoarder...
That is very aggravating. I feel your pain. I think thats my adversion to big equipment. The breakdown factor. Never seems to break at the right time does it! Take a deep breath and hoard on. Some great pics!
Thanks buddy. We can't complain, that is only the 2nd hose to break, it's an '06 model, we bought it new in Jan '07. Ot has moved a few logs over the years......good news, I called the trailer co back, they agreed to take the gate assembly back, since it doesnt work good with our trailer. I will take the old gate to a friend, he said he could fix it...
