Had some apricot rounds that needed dealt with, so I thought I’d make some cookies. Didn’t quite get a dozen when I struck some iron

OUCH is right! That $%&*$! Any only puttering too. I cut the lower trunk of the tree today last in fear of metal. None found but some purplish staining so there was some in it.

The wood is nice. The nail, not so much.

Looks like good wood. Too bad it has to be nailed together. How does that stuff burn?

Nice catch. I didn’t realize that was the one Stihl chain I have, but that would explain it. Husky chain would have zipped right through the nail and kept on cutting.
I think that chain came with the 372 I got at a pawnshop. Probably why they got rid of it. Wouldn’t cut.

Maybe the tree was anemic and was trying to fortify itself with iron?:loco:

It WAS a sickly tree. Was sure it was a fruit tree of some sort but never any fruit or blossoms. After they were on the ground I found 6 pathetic little apricots. There was 2 trees

Sucks about the nails but the wood would definitely be very good for the grill.

Ouch, but, it looks like you pulled it out in the cut fast enough and saved the chain. Great job. Looks like a little ''roll'' on the tip of the back tooth, but, at least it's not chewed up that bad.
