I was convinced buzz-saw was someone i knew joking with me as we live in the same town a couple minutes apart. Some PM's and texting and we finally met up on Thursday. We looked at this huge oak trunk left behind by Asplundh since November and planned for this weekend. I had considered working it during the Winter but too big to tackle alone. Bucking , rolling, cutting, splitting, sectioning, noodling, moving and loading over a few hours into his trailer and my PU yielded close to if not a full cord of wood. Two man job but a lot of work. We both agreed the chunks got heavier as the day progressed. 36" DBH His trailer packed tight. My PU. A bit more then i usually load. Took the back roads to his house just over a mile away as i dont normally leave tailboard open, but being that close. Photo op with the saws. I was really impressed with his huge hand truck. If we were able to lift trunk sections, we wouldve loaded in no time. Gnarlies and nuggets left behind. All in all a good day hoarding, despite the hard work. The trunk never had a chance! Great to meet another FHC member and cut with him. Future scrounges together are in the works. Local trees beware!
The whole East coast is gonna get clear cut, I just know it.Nice work fellas, I've met some really good friends here on FHC. Nice to see it happening across the country!
Good times!! Was great to meet up with Brad and work together on this one. Never in my life would I have even thought of working this but Brad figured we could do it so I figured why not. After a few hours I thought it might be necessary to remove the spark plugs from his saw to shut him down , he is a wood machine. A little sore this morning but actually not as bad as I expected. Brad ; Thanks again ! for this and all your time and hard work !!! Great to meet up and work with you. We'll be back .
You are quite welcome. Im really feeling it this morning. My body knows i definitely made firewood yesterday. Need that ibuprofen. Clock change is not helping. The fact that i stacked some and split some hickory with the Isocore later on didnt help the cause. Ill be dragging today. Great to work with you as well Craig. You'll be on the three year plan in no time...about a couple weeks the way i hoard wood!
Good sir, What is the tire size on that log cart? I looked online, but didn't see it listed. Looks like 16x6.5x8. Also if you don't mind, what is the width from outside of tire to outside of tire.
Pretty sure they are 16 inch. I can measure it later tonight when I get home and will check what actual size is.
