Like all my projects this one is made from heavy duty pallet wood. SS doesn’t leave much for lumber. The design is my take on Mission style. I couldn’t find nailholeless lengths for legs, so I doweled in a horizontal ‘wing’ to reach 24”. Clear white oak doesn’t do much for me, but QS specimens or knot character pieces do.
My first effort at breadboard ends which allow for tabletop expansion and contraction. It was a bit more work than I bargained for (and I had to make it twice) but I’m glad I did as the top shows that it has already shrunk some. Also my first effort at hand cut dovetails.
No metal in this piece, cherry dowels hold it all together. The wood is the best of my supply. Several coats of natural tung finish it. Top was thirsty, has eight coats.

Nice. The colour combinations give it more interest.

Thanks, I hadn’t really given that much thought. I think I’ll take that idea and work with it on the next project.

WOW! You must be a woodworker by trade or have had some very good training. The piece is stunning. Professional quality in my opinion. And to think you use pallets! No one would ever know. Just beautiful work.

Well thank you. My trade for forty years was machining where I learned to despise metal, toxic burnout. I had a couple of years of HS wood shop, I guess I just remember it. Now I adore wood in almost any form, even on fire.
