Our local firewood collection area opened up this week as we have entered Autumn now. I went out for a look to see what was about and couldn’t believe it when I saw about 8-10 vehicles out getting their firewood as well. We are lucky here as we have free collection from the designated areas within the state forest. Cutters are limited to 2 cubic metres per person per day with a maximum of 16 metres for the year. The local forestry management were out there as well cutting heaps of trees down but if today was anything to go by it won’t last long. I’ll head back out tomorrow for a couple more metres.[IMG]

I’ll get a few loads in. This wood will be for winter 2021 so will split and stack outside. The season is for autumn then closes for winter then reopens for spring so a chance for more then as well. I’m lucky I have the property I took leoht out to to cut when it suits as well which is better wood as well. The wood I got today was a mix of peppermint and stringybark gum. Good burning.

Peppermint and gum, sounds like a candy counter. Got any chocolate wood?

I'd try and Google a picture of something for you.....but something tells me I'm going to see a lot of something else, and not brown firewood.

It's great you two can get together.

Can you tell us more about that trailer. Looks to be super strong and can haul a heavy load. What was it originally built for?

It’s a great trailer it is 8x5 heavy duty with hydraulic brakes on the front axle. It’s a 2t limit legally but I’ve had a bit more than that on it. The cage I made myself and has stood up to some logs thrown in it. The mesh has dented a little but works well. I normally fill the trailer completely but with the 2 cubic metre limit I was behaving. It holds about 3.5 . I also added the toolbox to hold my saw, fuel and oil and all other necessary items. They make these trailers for tradesmen and the like.

Thanks Matt. The mesh, well, that is not real strong but still comes in handy.
