Some maple, cherry and alder, about 45 min later,a nice loaf. It don't get much better. That's not snow, its chips from the ole, stihl 261, it was hungry today, lol. Oh, that long maple, it splits like a dream.
I'm really surprised this wood was still there, 4 or 5 wks ago, this was a snowy, muddy mess. I was up there last week, and there was 2 guys cutting on this pile, never even thought this wood would still be there. To my surprise it was. just might go back up and get some more of that maple while the getting's good. Most of my wood this year has been red fir. And, normally its not decked or laid out like this. Two years ago i found a load like this it only lasted about 2 days, and was totally cut up, loaded out.
Great find indeed! I'd go get that maple. Also it is good you don't have to slide around in the snow.
Nice looking pile of log to work up. I get a lot of red oak around here but I'll go ahead and admit I prefer a nice mix such as that there any day.
I wouldve been surprised too as those are some nice logs! Id make a second trip or fifth to get more. Convenient way to cut them too. Great score B.Brown
lol, THAT's the good part, about 8 miles out of town on the state highway, then up the hill on a pretty good gravel road, 4 miles to the logging site. Its supposed to rain here tomorrow evening, so i might go up in the morning , see if any is left, if it's all gone, that's fine, some one else got some good wood, and didn't have to kill themselves getting it.
Looks like the country close to home here. That’s not a bad trip at all. Surprised it lasted so long, snow or no snow. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Yup, your right about close to home, you'r getting warm, lol. Went back up today, some of its still there!!! Not sure why. So i cut some more maple, and some alder as well, YOU got me in the mood for alder, lol. With the way it's laid out, cutting it is so easy, and i had a load in no time. Saw one pickup and he pulled over to let me go by him. Supposed to rain here tonight, so, i thought, better get it now. Boy, that maple is so pretty, and straight grain, i even split one chunk with one hand, piece of cake.
