Is that aspen or tulip poplar? We have the tulip poplar down here, I like it for kindling and shoulder season.

    I give up.

It was a roadside scrounge. Tree blew down. Landowner had it cut to length, do I grabbed it all.

I don't think the bark was a heavy/thick as tulip. So, some kind of aspen. It was rotting at the base, on one side. It had a real sour smell when I was splitting and stacking it. It was seasoned for about a year, covered. The splits are not heavy, compared to oak of similar size.

    Dont give up...lol...
Glad you got it, whatever kind it was. I had never heard aspen called popple or poplar until I joined FHC. And I think y'all have both up there dont ya?
I think the burning qualities are similar.

Look for the eyes on aspen. Reminds you more of a birch

A couple of other pics can be found about halfway through this page - The Car Hoarding thread

Other members guessed poplar. Not sure if aspen or tulip

I am taking videos. My computer is shipping tomorrow from up north so I can edit. My truck was too full to bring it down. Once it gets here I will set up my YouTube account and get busy.

I had a really nice video going the other morning motoring thru the lilies and pepper grass with a glass slick lake....had to slow down so I didn’t swamp another fisherman. We shall see how it turns out.
