We finally broke ground to add on an in-law suite for FIL. First orders of business was for us to make room for the construction trucks and trailers to access the site and park. The Kubota tractor and chainsaws got plenty of work clearing some trees and brush. We also had to take down and rearrange some fencing to keep the dogs, sheep and workmen separated. Weather permitting, they are going to start excavation Monday. Wish us luck 20200220_104811.jpg 20200220_105344.jpg 20200201_155734.jpg

Thanks! Much appreciated. Yes, we have several irons in the fire right now and lambs due beginning of April. :loco: :hair: If me and the wife can survive until about June without killing ourselves or each other, we will be sitting pretty. Until then, we're just putting one foot in front of the other...

showrguy We're putting in 2 full baths in the in-law suite. Nothing special / high end like you do, but any advice, suggestions, etc. would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks! That hilarious. I may be sleeping in one of the sheep, hay, pig barns on any number of occasions in the near future, just to keep the Ms. happy.

The foundation is marked out in white and existing utilities marked in orange. Laissez le bon temps rouler!

Good luck on the build Mike. Even more luck on lambing time. I kinda miss it but those nites in the barn for several hours waiting for a lamb or 3 to pop can take it's toll.

    Good luck mike bayerl.

On that waiting in the barn at night waiting for new births, I do not miss that in the least. I never did it with sheep but did with many cows. No, I don't miss that.

Thankfully, there are plenty of cheap wifi cameras on the market, so we put a couple of those out in the barn during lambing season. No sleeping in the barn. In my prior post, I was actually making of cryptic reference to being kicked out of the house by the wife and sent to the "dog house," except we don't have an outdoor dog house, rather just barns. Have a great weekend.

We are using Andy Inch out of Lebanon. He seems very reasonable. I'm sure it would work out. Our only unusual specification is to make the showers accessible by wheel chair. FIL is still walking now, but wife is an occupational therapist, so she has been designing everything for maximum accessibility.

Think about sheeting bath with plywood so that You can add a towel bar or grab rail anywhere

We had beautiful weather today and we finished up prepping the outside including taking out a couple trees, some some bushes and opening up and rearranging two rows of fencing. Here's the last "before" picture. 20200223_161750.jpg
10-12 weeks from now there will be a two story addition where the little bump-out is now.

Glad you had good weather. The whole week looks fair except for some snow late week. Hopefully your weather stays nice. Is your ground frozen at all?
