Just finished bucking the red oak at the bottom of the hill. Take a little breather.
Now I’ve seen these trees down on the neighbors property for over a year. Rode by on the quad last winter. Always thought they were oaks. No big deal I’ve got tons on my side of the line
Well I looked again and dang it that’s gotta be some type of hickory. Yes? No?

last pic is another sapling. Think I’ve heard them called muscle trees here. Any info would be appreciated. 9CC23E61-2AB9-4A4A-BEEA-400673D22ABD.jpeg 7F0FB6F8-8326-48E7-A2D2-1F75F1C30EC9.jpeg 25E83CD9-2074-44D8-A3C2-2D9C57FD9E00.jpeg 51E81E0D-6AE2-4F51-A93A-56ACA98C3B2B.jpeg 543506F0-8EA5-455C-9F4D-E3FAA0D868A9.jpeg A745F98B-1FA3-4CCB-91E6-15D737BE7601.jpeg

    Thanks Brad. You da man!!
Guessing from the btu calculator they’re not as good as the little bit of shag I’ve got but better than all the red oak I have.
Maybe start hauling tomorrow. Gonna be cold in the morning. May have to start in the afternoon :)

The ironwood will stay as there’s nothing wrong with it. Just noticed a few of those at the bottom of this hill and figured I might as well learn now.
