Aahhh,.... June 14th. The BK is holding a steady temp. right now, without the blowers on. I had to do it. Wife is going through the menopausal hot/ flashy thing, but tonight she said to light it off. It's fairly cold tonight, supposed to bottom out around 34. Even so, I don't have "snuggle" privileges , I must tend fire but keep away. So be it. My feet get cold, I just throw on another cat.
Dude, are you the one calling me at 1:00 AM , telling me to change the TV channel?? BTW- I sleep on my left side. ( but you knew that, didn't you)
It's been down in the low seventies in here a couple times lately but we're headed back up around 90 for daytime highs, so I've quit eying the stove, probably for the duration. About time we got some decent wood-drying weather...
Too hot now. 90 days till it starts cooling off. I never get too worried about summer. By September 15th, relief comes.
Yeah...wood definitely dries rapidly this time of year. I've heard people say it dries well in winter, but a puddle of water will disappear much faster when it's 80 degrees outside than when it's 40.
I think everyone pretty much agrees that wood can and will dry in the winter. The point is that it will dry at a much slower rate in the winter.
A lot of people's wood here in the midwest won't be drying for a while-- now with all the flooding going on. Pretty sure wood doesn't dry when it's under water, but I would be curious to do an experiment.
It's been like walking outside into a bowl of hot soup here even at night. The Philly/DC/Mid-Atlantic climate can be like the Amazon in the summer and Nunavut in the winter at times. On the bright side being from Erie we only average about 20" of snow per year in my town.
All else being the same It depends on the winter weather & on the summer weather. But on average, (Northern hemisphere ) wood dries slower Dec 20 thru March 20th & it dries faster June 20th thru Sept 20th.

Well I just checked off your area to move to if I leave Alaska. Hawaii tops the list, 80° days and 70° nights year round I could live with that Got to 70 today, to be 50 tonight Got cloudy, but no darkness for a few more weeks
A guy I know lived in HI... said his house doesn't have A/C or heat, had never needed it in the ~10 years he was there. Hit 74* here today... too hot! Down to 65* right onw (1AM)
