Good Morning! We are heading up north to our cabin, and off the grid in a few hours. I heard from a friend yesterday that there is 36"-40" of settled snow in the woods. The only firewood work I will be doing is loading the stove, then filling the wood rack in the mud room before we leave. We do plan on some snowshoeing with friends and a meal on Poplar Lake off the Gunflint Trail, other than that, relaxation.

 

Mornin all... ... below zero here, fire's choochin' and the coffee is perfect... always is, in front of a fire...

 

2° here, black locust in the stove, but the boiler still kicked on. Happy Birthday Brandon Scott!

Thanks all! I’m 50! We will finish rigging the boat today with pole holders and such then tomorrow we fish. Gonna fish off into the sunset...

Good morning y'all. Hope y'all have a SUPER SATURDAY. Well, had fun on my days off, got to go back to work tonight. Got to go over to my son's house this morning and measure his roof. Storm blew some shingle tabs off the other day, so we are going to put a metal roof on. Temp is 32° right now, heat wave to y'all...lol...reloaded the stove about 6:30 AM. Surprised my hunny last night, had 7 friends meet us. Pastor's wife made her a lemon cake.

Good afternoon everybody. Happy Saturday. Woke up to 4 below but they said it felt like 18 below. Temps have warmed up to 19 and heading to around 30.

Good morning Brandon and Jeff . I can just barely make out my bird feeder. That means my cardinals will be in shortly for breakfast. They are almost always the first on the feeder.
Cardinals just landed.

 

Good morning everyone! 27° now, back to 40° today, so that's the end of the cold snap. At least it froze the ground, that will keep the mud down for awhile. And I got to burn a little locust.
A manager was my cashier at Kohl's, I was buying sneakers on clearance the next size up for my grandson, just in case. ( hey, I'm a hoarder). I asked her if she had noticed a slowdown in new stock coming in. She said that some product lines weren't coming in at all (I think she meant clothes), but some smaller lines were. FWIW.
I've got my grandson today. Tomorrow will be a splitting day.
