OK you FC deniers. The problem is with the FC rubber gaskets ( and other rubber engine gaskets BTW ). The ethanol in our wonderful correct gas mix deteriorates the gaskets. This according to 2 of our Stihl/Husky dealers in the area. I've replaced 2 in some years under free recalls. It is recommended to use ethanol free fuel for small engines.
That sounds logical but I always have the most problems with the oil cap. I think partially because I accidentally overfill at times. I wouldn’t mind going back to the old style caps myself.
Yes that is the times when I have a problem. I don't know why we/I think we need that "just a bit more".
And of course no one has ever mixed up filling oil into the fuel tank....of course. Why don't oil people make oil a light color ( "colour" for Canuks ) then we'd be able to see how full .
I over fill my oil or gas tank a good bit. It actually washes any trash out of the threads when you push the cap on. Just do it slow...
I did not hear back from him, so ended up buying OEM flippys, they came in last week. He mentioned that was the original one from the late 1990's, WWW said he is fine with them lasting like 20 years.
Endless supply Buzz. Even some red liquid for us colour blind Canadians. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
