I wish our Shepard wasn't a runner cause it would be great to let him run the whole property free. He is a great guard dog though and the area we have covered with invisible fence is well protected. Our wood area is outside his contained area so he needs a lead while put there. He loves "helping" with wood and snags any small pieces not stacked. Anyone else have a wood hound?

Beautiful shepherd, Casper. Looks like he’s full of fun.

Our girls, Sierra and Rosie, will make trip after trip across the yard to my wood processing area to take sticks, chunks and even splits back to their favorite spot. Not long after they’ll have a nest of chewed up wood going. It’s the hard life...

Not sure what the attraction is with dogs and wood ( Oh wait ; PETA says you can't call them dogs ) . Our two are like wood chippers ; logs , sticks , leaves. It doesnt matter to them , as long as they have something they are happy.

I made 4 of these for my wife, she put them on the front porch.

They have been slowly disappearing, we were down to one left.

Redirected. He will take splits back to the woods and bury them. The Hounds are all on GPS collars, so I can see where he goes when he "steals" a split. He scatters them all over but usually close to one of my trails, sometimes as far as 800 yards from the house.

His partner in crime, although this Hound usually just chews them up in the yard.
