If you have a MicroCenter nearby, are looking into upgrading an older desktop, a AMD Ryzen 5 2600X setup is the best bang for the buck right now. Prices on the 2nd gen Ryzens have dropped 50% or more as they push the 3rd gen 3xxx series.

MicroCenter has the 2600X (6 core/12 thread 3.6Ghz, 4.2 Ghz boost) for $80, a good mother board will run you $75 but you get $20 off buying them together and 16Gb of DDR4 memory is $60-$70 . So for around $200 you can get a real nice upgrade.

The only negative is these are in-store only deals, you have to go to the store.

I just cleaned my stove after two weeks of not touching it. Typically I do it every Sunday but may have had too much fun last saturday and blew it off. The burn pot was spotless and ash level was great after 15 or so bags.

Took snowblower apart to see what was buggered in the auger tranny/gearbox.

Was expecting broken tooth or something but the gears looked fine. Then noticed input shaft (also a worm gear that drives the auger shaft gear) was off center where it enters the case. Found bearing on the input shaft was partially out of place and cocked. Torque of the rock prior to the shear bolt breaking must have dislodged it. Tapped it back into place and everything seems to operate normally. Hope the oil seal at the shaft is OK.

Reassembled, filled with new gear oil and test run. Seems to be working just fine. If I have any issues, Ill order an input shaft and oil seals

Early this morning I had changed the P43 from running on the thermostat to running stove temp. it was 2* this morning and cold days usually cause the stove to cycle frequently but also allows the bedrooms to get colder than I like (they are over the unheated garage). Once it hit 20* outside I turned it back to thermostat control. After it shut down I cleaned the P43 and spread the ashes at the end of the driveway to help the sun melt ice at the end of the driveway,

Did dishes, went grocery shopping, shoveled all the ice that dumped off the roof (from all the sleet Friday), vacuumed the floors and the seed catchers under the bird cages. Took a break and happened to catch King Arthur, Legend of the Sword (2017 with Charlie Hunnan)on ScyFy - I thought is was a very well done movie and the soundtrack was awesome. Not sure why it flopped so badly - but then I hated "great" movies like Titanic. Then got back to being useful and worked on cataloging new memberships for a group I belong to, then finished my taxes (got last of stuff Friday) and efiled. Now just trying to avoid anything involving the awards show that seems to be showing on several channels.

-6 here this AM. Ran the Platinums out of the hopper last night and dumped in a bag of Blazers. No ash to be found in the burn pot when I got up this morning.

    I can't hack them anymore..
They all suck, now.... except maybe the Country awards,
because they have not, for the moment,
turned into grandstanding attacks on everything...

Geez.. Be grateful for winning an award.
Thank the people that helped you become a millionaire.
Nobody cares about your opinion on everything..
