The video below popped up on my YouTube recommended videos; it is from Oct of 2019. I have noticed the "spit" sound when opening the cap on my Stihl but never had any fuel to shoot out. Of course the tank is empty or almost empty when I fill the saw. Anyone on FHC has experienced fuel spraying out when opening the cap on their Stihl saw?

Sounds like the tank vent might be plugged if it's building pressure.

I have noticed that on mine when I put it away cold then if my garage is warmer than when I put it away it does build a little pressure. Guessing expansion from temp change.

I thought the tank vent had a one way check so it would allow air into the tank as fuel is used but will not let air or fuel out.

Maybe I am wrong but if vent flowed both ways it would push fuel out as it expanded.

Just blame it on those stupid caps. Can't figure out why they did that when the old screw on caps were just fine. The MS170 Stihl's smallest saw still has threaded caps , Can't figure out why they changed all of them except that one.

I said the same the first time I replaced a water faucet that was 1/4 turn; no adjustment basically between off and full on. With the fuel caps, they are quicker to remove although I tend to fumble putting the caps back on. I guess if there is the possibility of fuel being sprayed when removing the caps I need to make sure my face isn't over the cap. I guess there could be a concern with a hot saw that is being refuel that the spray could hit the hot exhaust and ignite.

I have never had any spray fuel. I have heard a hiss once in a while. I never turn mine completely to the open position. I give it a second or 2 for any pressure to escape slowly before removing the cap. I do the same even with my screw in caps.

Same here , can't really say it sprays fuel , maybe a fine spray at most. Never an issue.
My BR 600 blower does the same thing.

I'm joining the FC Club (Flippy Cap ).
Never had a problem with refilling in all weather. Not qualified to fire fight, or want to; tough, dangerous , skilled job.
It makes sense that the fuel would expand with high heat. Again, that kind of fire fighting takes serious training.
The flip caps work well in larger saws--no tools needed, K.I.S.S. system for us without brains. Just match up the lines and twist.
In my smaller limbing, trail, and tree saws like the 009 and 170 you do need tools for the caps. Not a big deal.
Don't understand the whining about the Stihl caps....unless you're a Husky fan.

I hear the pressure released when I take the caps off, but that’s it, no spray.

Really cool idea... but a hundred bones to fill the gas tank! No thanks.

One of the big saw brands should get on this. It would be a really nice selling point, but again not worth a hundred bucks to put gas in the tank!

I don't think fuel-spray is really an issue. Just let the damm cap vent slowly! And while I enjoy some of his videos, and don't think he's "a tool". I think they unabashedly make money from affiliate links to things he reviews.

That said, "dump cans" and controlled fueling are just cool. Anyone See, I'm lazy, and I hate spilling fuel... If they get them into production, and possibly reduce cost, as well as make them for Husky too, I might buy into it...

I've gotten a little pressurized mist come outta mine when opening. I just open slow. Quite honestly my "EPA certified" crappy gas cans tend to spray way more gas outta them when you engage the spout, which makes them likely more dangerous than the old normal style cans.

I'm a tool for going to a terrible job working for management that is going to give me a heart attack, while this guy makes a small fortune working for himself, right from home. No semi-annual reviews for him!

I agree that there is a ton of misinformation on the internet video sites, well, all over the internet actually. I am a little jealous of him, because he does seem to really enjoy what he is doing, and I think he's making a lot of money doing exactly what he wants.

Regarding finding a well paying job that I'm happy with, no chance there. There is generally a direct correlation between pay and how miserable the work is. Plus, I'm having a tough time finding anyone to pay me to watch the birds and drink beer. I still think there's a chance!

I kind of agree on the YouTube videos; I think they were a lot more enjoyable when it was just guys and gals putting up videos for fun; not for profit. I use to watch this young man bush camping with his dog. The guy was green in so many ways, he didn't even know how to cut a tree properly with a hand saw. Next thing I know he is hawking all these products. I left a comment saying that I was through watching; I don't want to watch an advert.
