My wife and I are doing intermittent fasting during the work week. We don't eat from 6PM to 11AM or Noon. In two weeks I can tell I have lost some weight by how my clothes feel. The only time I get weighed is every other year at my physical. My weight has been stabile for about 10 years, but that being said, I am heavier now than at age 40 and after 50 I noticed that it tends to stay.

I remember my father jokingly telling me when he was about 50 as he pointed at his middle section: "see this, once you get this it never leaves."

Besides losing some weight, I am drinking more water especially in the morning, not as hungry at lunch or in the evenings, and more evenly alert throughout the day.

We are more physically active on the weekends, so we treat ourselves to an egg over easy, buttered toast, and my strawberry/black raspberry jam in the morning.

I think I could do the 12/12 method... would mean skipping beer in the evening... IMG_20200201_56698.jpg

I am doing the intermittent fasting thing because the fridge is empty and I can't find anyone to run to the store...

If it works for you, good.

Over the last couple of years, I have noticed that one meal a day is good enough. Not every day, but in a week's time, there may be two days like that. Word of caution here, it seems to work for me only when I am busy with projects....ONLY!

Trouble for me is that dang snacking.

We in North America have very poor eating habits. We should all be eating more fruits and veggies, and instead of 1,2,or 3 BIG meals, we should eat several small feedings spread through out the day and evening. Grazing, if you will. Our digestive systems are not really designed for the way most folks eat these days. Fasting is just a form of the grazing style of eating in a more intense form. God knows how eating is a major vice for me. As I am getting older, I find that I have started to adjust what and how I eat and it is making a marked improvement in controlling weight and how I feel.

I did IF back in September. I lost 10lbs in the first week, and was making steady progress from there, but went off the rails eating and drinking due to work stress.

I just got back into it again this week. I'm doing 16 / 8. The first week or so of hunger is a BITCH, especially if you arent busy, butnit gets easier, and your stomach will shrink pretty quickly too I found, so you will eat less when you do.

I used to do a 24 hour fast every so often but now am warned about it because of some problems I have so just go without eating sometimes in the evening then going until maybe 11:00 or noon the next day and seem to do okay but the weight seems to be holding steady. Not excessive but did feel better when I was about 15 lb lighter.

Every couple of years, I go on a 2+ day fast and drink some foul liquid tasting stuff. Oh yeah. I don't get to far from a toilet and in no way trust a fart during this "fast"!

There have only been a few number of times in my life that I have actually woke up and had a snack then went back to sleep. Twice, that I can remember....

A while back i spent 6 years going to a gym six days a week and completely changed my diet. I would eat 5-6 meals per day. Every 2 1/2-3 hours. High protein, low carb, worked very well but was very hard to eat that often. Lost 30 # the first year and stayed there for almost 7 years.
    After, i put 40 # on...
    Ugh, diets...
