that pic was from the pdvc25 when it was my main stove. now its occasional use only. the new auger motor gets a yearly strip of flat rope gasket and so does the shelf it was banging on. problem solved. Saved that auger motor until I had one with a good gear case and bad motor. but the good gear case on this one and its a great back up unit.

    Hi Dr F
Thanks for your comments. If you use some high temp silicone RTV and glue down a 1/8” piece of high temp silicone cut from a sheet to replace the strip of gasket on the shelf you would never have to do it again. It is a good permanent fix. See Pic below.

    Hello Dr. Faustus
Thanks for pic of your auger broken gearbox with your story here in this thread,
    Auger motor
There is one more comment I can make on motors that get too hot. I have come to know that in some areas the AC power fluctuates to create low voltage. These Motors need 120 volts to operate properly. When the voltage goes low the motors draw more current to operate. This causes an overload condition in which the motor heats up and brakes down the laminations of the windings. This can explain why some motors get too hot and fail prematurely.
So like many RVs the solution is to plug in a line conditioner which not only protects against surges but also low voltage that can cause overheating and early breakdown.
