Good morning, y'all. Hope y'all have a TREMENDOUS THURSDAY. I'm vertical and ventilated. Kinda fuzzy last night, but I made it through. 1 more night to go. Coffee was the Folgers 1850 Pioneer blend, 2 nice cups. It's as foggy outside now as I was about 2:00 this morning... :rofl: ...
We did get the load done before lunch yesterday, oak and some dry tulip poplar. 0129201133.jpg Enjoy your day, remember the saying, "I had no shoes and complained, then I met the man with no feet"...count your blessings, not your problems.
    GOD LOVES YOU AND ME.

    Good morning, everyone.

I'm needing to fill my deck rack ahead of warming, ground softening, days ahead.

After moving wood, I'll have 3 empty racks. A cord's worth.

I have a few trees here, that have died at the tops. A hickory, am oak, and a maple, I think. I'll probably drop them in a few weeks. I don't want to wait too long, as the die off and rot, will continue down into good solid wood.

Good morning everyone! I hope you get some sleep in somehow T.Jeff!
I had a great time outside yesterday, filled another rack with sugar maple and beech... IMG_20200130_50519.jpg
Probably another cord left to split. IMG_20200130_14938.jpg I started moving the poplar that is on the racks to the left in the picture above, to make room for the sugar maple. I'm putting it in the tin shed for the summer. It will be burned next fall. IMG_20200130_29400.jpg
I'll fill it up today. I cut it last August, and it's really light already.
We get some 50° weather early next week, then another chance of snow. I'll keep at it until then!
    Have a good day all.

Empty racks are an abomination! Please fill them as quickly as possible.

Probably will, not much planned today, 80% chance of rain tomorrow on my day off...:headbang:...if our friend hadn't run out of wood completely and started using kerosene heater, I could have waited.

I hate the looks of them. They'll get filled over time.

i was at my dad's yesterday. I notice a decent sized red oak, had a heavy lean to it. A closer look is that the single trunk splits into two leaders, about 20th up. There's a white pine, that ended up between the leaders, as the oak tipped. I'll have my buddy with me when I take it down. It'll be a bit tricky.

So, bottom line is that I have more than a cord identified. I just need to process it all.

Good Morning. Checking in with coffee in hand, which is good. Friday...good too. I have a lighter schedule today, which is going to allow me to clear up a bunch of paperwork. I took Monday off to go out exploring on one particular big body of water near home. Our youngest son is cooking for us for the Superbowl. So a good weekend coming.

I am going out to check on my permanent house on my local lake a few blocks from our home. If some fish come through they may or may not get a pass. If they are too big or too small they will swim. If sunfish are around and biting I will harvest them.

I just got an All American Canner to replace my 30 year old Mirrow which I am giving to our daughter. Right now I am building up enough fish to put up about 12 pints of canned pike. I also like to save one or two frozen round/whole for the smoker.

The Mirrow units are epic. I hope the new one serves you well.

I won’t. There are gators there bigger than my boat. I have been up close and personal. Rather intimidating.

I am kind of sentimental about that one. It was my first canner. I bought it from the trading post on the reservation when we lived and worked there. The woman running the store sold it to me for $25. It has helped me put up a lot of good food for my family.

I also have a large Presto that I keep at the cabin for putting up whatever extra game meat comes our way up there.
