We have seen very little blue skies lately. Cloudy most days and if the sun does come out you had better not blink cause you would miss it
It has been 29* t0 33* for the last four days. Air is damp and it feels a whole lot colder. Getting tired of these cloudy damp days. 31* outside 70* inside. Eating Ash today.
29 out 73 in, burning a mixed bag. 20 coming overnight, have some ash, hickory and locust by the stove.
-2 this morning. Bright, sunny and frost all over the trees. Looks cool. Beech, Maple, and a couple small pieces of Cherry I found in the stack.
As with most, we're a bit tired of all the cloudy days too but we get this every year. Looking forward, we generally start to see more sunshine at least by the second half of February. Looking forward to that.
All those carbon taxes Canada pays to cure global warming must be working ! And a bonus, days and days of glorious sunshine. 27ºF at 9:23 AM premium eastern white pine, some oak.
Another dreary day here. Thermometer says 33 but feels colder....it's that damp cold that seems to get under your skin a little deeper. Boiler is still working on last night's load. Shop stove is lit with some pine scaps....going to try to do some work out there this evening.
Suppose to reach 40 today with sunshine all day. Was in mid 20s this morning. Supposedly going to be in 50s next week.
29° out now. Last night I think it got down to 26°. Not very cold, which I appreciate. Burning ash and silver maple. The ten day forecast isn't scary at all.
It’s 41 now, house was well under 60° starting the fire. Gonna climb in a bit. I’ve been burning mostly oak for the last week. It seems a bit much with that kind of wood all day but hey house is warm and oil heat is off. Can’t tolerate that smell through the vents. I wonder if the smell is fixable though.
All the clouds in winter is actually most times a blessing here. One of the benefits of being squashed between the great lakes is that it moderates our temperatures. We always laugh when the southern folks (Ohio-Indiana etc.) are usually warmer than us until a cold front moves through. Then it gets much colder down there than what we get. In addition, they also get more storms than we do. More rain, more snow, more ice, more tornadoes, more thunder storms, etc.
Our forecast is just about the same as yours. About the only difference we will be getting a few more flurries than you. Got down to a chilly 11 this morning.
I'm right with you on the oil heat smell. I never minded it growing up or before we had stove in. Now I cant stand it.
