The rain held off yesterday enough for us to get another order completed. It was a slow morning, as we were working on the old log pile. Some logs were junk, some had some good wood left. Found a deck screw in our cutting sled, chain doesn't like those either. I had put an old chain on that morning, thank goodness. Finally got into some bigger logs with good wood. It was mid 70's, so a few sprinkles felt good. Got the load finished and delivered
Great that you can sort through your backlog, and make some money at the end. Keep at it and you'll have clear decks for new stuff in the spring.
Had a good day in Dixie today. Temps started out at 61* got up to about 70*, didn't rain so we got the trailer done Had a few big boys on deck too my friend said he didn't mind the punky sap on it. He is going to do a little welding for me too. I'll update when its done.
We worked through some more older logs Thursday for a load to a new customer. Had some great help too. My hunny and her mama, Granny as I call her. Found a couple things we all DON'T want... Luckily, I was using an old chain, just in case.
It might have made it to 50*, probably 48* and breezy. She lost a lot of weight, maybe weighs 105-110 lbs. Doesn't eat right, she got too cold, piece of wood popped off the splitter and hit her hand. Next thing we know, she says everything is starry looking. She layed down for a bit, we got her in the truck and to the house, added wood to the fire and got her some soup. She returned to normal in about an hour.
Looking good folks! Keep up the great work! The oak i just cut had lots of "rust stained wood" (is there an actual name for the discolored wood from steel/iron in oak?) Discovered this while unloading the sections this morning. Barbed wire i think. Luckily the saw didnt find it.
If I ever become president I will outlaw the careless practice of nailing into live trees. This will be part of my "Green New Deal". Can I count on your support?

Thanks. We got a tremendous amount of wood on the woodyard in 2018, then rain, cutting grass on the side and my regular work schedule, got behind. Got a lot more first of '19 too. Had a dry summer, so we have been working pretty steady since.
Got another load done Monday, took awhile, sorting through older logs, then removing the punky sap, but we got it done. Had some 24"and 36" logs to work on. Glad we had the metal platform to help slide the rounds on. I hope I don't let wood get this bad before we CSS it. I looked back through my pics, had some logs over 2 yrs. Sure wasted a tremendous amount of time and wood. Got a box of trimmings to take to mama's and the barrel going burning the junk wood. A few nice rounds this size The big boy, wish it didnt have so much sapwood It did have some curly grain in it... Ready to go...I think we are representing 4 wonderful things in this picture...JESUS, FHC, Stihl saws, XS model even..and renewable energy source. Yes, we hugged it first....
That does look like a laborious job but I'm glad you made the most of some problematic wood. It was still pretty wet on the inside? The curly grain looks cool. Wouldn't want to split that by hand!
Yes ma'am, still pretty wet, had the truck squatting. That tree was cut the summer of '17...told Miz Carol I needed the seat of my pants kicked for waiting so long. We just got too busy.
Nice work sir! I hear you about the sapwood on oak, especially after its been sitting that long. Do you have any specific rotation of wood as you bring it in? Do you prop it off the ground when brought in? Top cover? Too bad it sat that long.
