I am off. Need to rebuild the door glass and rope seals on the wood stove today.
I have an air leak on the glass insert and im getting runaway fires.
Not sure I'll get to the trailer. But I'm off till the 10th so hopefully get things finished up.

I dont worry when it goes over 600 but it will go to 700 or more if i fill the box up full.
Ive been filling about 2/3 full till i get it resealed.

Can see the air leak on the lower left

The rope around our door leaks like a sieve. We are able to control the fire with the inline glue damper installed right above the stove. Did me, the damper cost about as much as a new rope. And the damper won’t need to get replaced every couple of years. We may lose some efficiency but it is not readily apparent.

Is an in-line damper a good thing to have “just in case”?

I have one on my setup. I dont use it but I figure it's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. I look at it as an emergency brake.

Two ways to stop a run away burn:

    1) Open the stove door wide open and close the Damper.

    2) Extreme case use a railway striker fuse, ignite it, throw it in the stove shut the air completely down. Good for killing a chimney fire as well. The sulfur in the fuse snuffs out the O2 and smothers the burn.
