We are getting some small ones coming back as well along with some stumps that have shoots growing. I certianly hope they are able to come back and thrive again for future generations.
Wow. Not only does wishlist not know how to split wood the right way, he even takes pictures while laying down! That grapple has to be really sweet.
Raining & mud here, can't get equipment in anywhere. This winter's wood harvest has been very anemic. Glad you're having better success over there. Nice load!
Oh heck ya, especially when they hit something else i had one ride another snag down and hit it like a jump, completion changed direction and quite a few feet. Nice wide escape routes. Helmets are important and they take a good blow
Re: your tool list There seems to be a gap in your saw collection - somewhere between 63.5 and 63. 7 cc. Heck of a collection!
By the time I finished that day things were getting soft in the woods AC . After today’s rain I’m sure it’s a mess . Really need some cold temps .
For sure wishlist and amateur cutter has to be hurting this year with the ground not getting much frost in it. Bob, when do you plan on tapping?
I enjoy cutting in the winter Dennis , I’m not hurting for firewood which is a good thing . However I have some neighbors that are feeding 4 OWB and they never have any wood processed ahead of time. They cut it as they need it but this year with little to no frost they are hurting . Can’t get the farm tractors to the woodlots . Not sure yet on tapping date , still early and a good long Feb freeze is possible . If the weather stays mild mid Feb I’ll tap the woods then week or so later roadsides .
Seems like some never learn... That's where the old saying, "You have to make hay when the sun shines," comes from. Do it when you can because later the circumstances may change and you can't make the hay then.
I couldn’t keep up with the amount of wood they use . They park truck trailer beds next to the OWB and when empty they go get another load . Never have ANY wood stacked ahead of time . Wet , never split, it doesn’t matter .
