Got off work this morning, wasn't raining, felt good enough to do a little work before lunch. We went over to a friend's house and cut up a 20' dead pine log that had fallen in her yard for her burn pile, then came home and finished noodling 4 knotty pecan rounds for cooking/smoking wood.

About 3/4 of this long row was cut this morning 0118201233.jpg
Still had a little time, so I built another chunky/nugget bin and got it almost half full of some great oak shortie, be some great stove stuffers in a couple yrs. Still got more to sort thru. 0118201234.jpg

Honest and good work for a Saturday morning. Nice looking wood there. Does the pecan have an nice aroma when burning?

Ive never worked with pecan. Doesnt grow up here. What does it compare to processing wise?
Unusual to see you noodle. What saw are you using?
    Nice looking work BTW!

Had some "longs " (18-24 splits) in the seasoned rotation. Needed 16". Rather than cut alone i made up my bundles, marked as i did then cut them all. (thats how i spilled the oil yesterday) Have two garbage pails of nuggets. Have more to go as well. IMG_1774.JPG

Thanks brother. Hope you can find more somewhere. We have a good many at work, just hard to find ones that aren't broken up, most of the lift drivers just stick the fork through the pallet, not moving the forks in close...:tears::picard:

Thanks, yes sir, smells good, folks like to cook and smoke with it. Chili's restaurant chain smokes their baby back ribs with pecan.

Wish you had some, if its straight grained, splits decent, most pecan trees are pruned to make more limbs, probably like y'alls apple trees, so the trunk can have big crotches or knots, like the round in the first picture, it's tough then, like hickory, splitter will take it apart, but kinda makes a mess of it. Figured I could noodle it and make nice size splits for my cooking customers.
I'm using the huskihl tricked XS029 with 20" bar.
Might take some of the noodles and smoke on the grill, probably work good with an electric smoker.

Ok that bin when you make it. Do you have it so one side opens up. When it comes time to use I would only be able to reach the top part of the wood.

OK Forgot that an 029 shape is different than an MS290.
I like to noodle for the same reason. Sometimes i can split gnarlies with the Isocore, but then i have uglies! Dont really like either.

Just winter weeds and stuff, don't get snow often, but will get cold enough to bust pipes, seen 23* already this year.

That's what Miz Carol said too, so I will add extra pipe to hold 3 sides up, one pallet can then be loosened and taken out to get wood.

Finished filling the bin this morning. 0120201201_HDR.jpg After I build the first one, whether bin or shed, I try to think of ways to make it better. I filled in the openings in the tall end pallets with 10" piece of 2x4. 0120201215_HDR.jpg this makes it easier to fasten to roof panels on. 0120201223_HDR.jpg Just waiting on time for it to dry.\

Yeah I think he's all good mate. I will probably see him in the morning when I knock off for the week and he starts. Fires are still going and terrible to all the affected communities luckily for us is they are on the other side of the state.
