So googling from what I know (pfffft, so much I don't know about this new to me FJ) I'm steering towards an "actuator" that opens/closes the heater duct vents?. They are behind the glove box, which could explain why glove box was off when I bought it. Really does not look that hard to do. We've always wanted one of those angle ratchets anyway LOL.

I going to keep this going and agree that it doesn't take much to get the plow to wash the other direction.

For almost two decades, the plow driver (always in a grader) came by and plowed as wide as he could and let the wash empty on the side of the road where no one lived. Usually, he came by a 2nd time in the same direction as the first time and pushed the wash even further away.

Then we got a new plow driver. Took him a year before he caught on also, but he did a great job.

    fast forward to this year.

The young guy comes from the other direction and plows as wide as he can but dumps it all on the same side as the residents. :headbang: He will come back from the other direction and just tidy up a bit but in the meantime, you have almost all the snow from the road into everyone's yards! Funny thing is, the other side of the road has a large bank that you could push snow over all winter. Spoke with the original driver and asked him to come out of retirement...…...I barely had the words out of my mouth and he said he had stopped by the road commission and offered to ride along with the new driver and teach him. Even offered to do it at no charge! Nothing doing.

The new driver is still on his learning curve and we end up getting plowed hours later than we used to get plowed out. Good thing is that yesterday, he did come by the same way that the driver from years ago did and guess what? It all worked out just great! I'm thinking the retired driver spoke with the new young driver.

Redneck we all have a lot of respect and gratitude for the drivers and they do a good job with countless long hours. But if you had seen this street, it would be to the driver's advantage to push the snow away from the residents yards and could be done without reversing the plow angle.

    :handshake:

So, you'd need a new tool to complete the job?
    I say....no brainer. :dex:

All I see is a nice rack. On the FJ !~!

  I had a tiny mini leatherman to control the speed on the Blazer heat (brittle plastic, broke off) so used the stump remaining, and also there were vice grips here on the broken water valve in the shower that we used for way too long

Been cutting a good bit of wood recently. Cutting up a tree that a friend said I could cut up at their house. It's about two foot in diameter at the bottom. This is six rounds on the trailer I think. These were taken from about 20foot up from ground level. IMG_20200120_174903431.jpg

I brought my 2006 Tundra into the shop this morning because a few weeks ago I noticed a small amount of coolant under the front of the engine at the back of the front skid plate right after our son started it up and moved it. The truck had been sitting a few days with no leaking.

It was cold and he put it into gear within 5 seconds of starting it, backed it up, and moved it over in our driveway to he could get his car out, then shut it down, whereas I typically let her run for about a minute or so when I start it up in the cold. This maybe coincidental, but I am not sure.

It didn't leak anymore in over 250 miles of driving, and the coolant level didn't drop at all during that whole time. I am thinking a small purge on start up? They just visual inspection while I waited for it. I had already done that, but thought I would see what they would recommend.

The main mechanic who did my timing belt kit a year ago was not there today, and they were swamped, so I am going to bring it back later for proper pressure testing at some point in the near future. Anyone ever had something like this happen, or idea what might be going on?

I just got back from a 20 mile mountain bike ride with a few mates from work.

With cooler weather and less smoke it was a nice morning for a ride.

hovlandhomestead leaking onto the skid plate and then down to the ground is kinda hard to pinpoint.

Maybe check on some tundra forums for similar conditions?

That's the same Gen as my Sequoia. I have not torn mine down yet to do a t belt. Only had it 5 years. I was close this summer. I have the kit in my shed though. Did he do the water pump?

Pull your skid plate off the bottom. It's only 4 bolts. You can't see darn thing with it on. Look at the inspection hole at the bottom of the timing cover to see if it's leaking. If it is you can for sure know its the water pump.

Also look around the water neck on the front of the engine and the thermostat housing there as well.

That’s exactly what our plow guy told us thirty years ago and I learned my lesson from there on.

Yes. He did the water pump as well. I plan on pulling the skid plate and check the inspection hole at bottom of the timing cover.

No problem. You are not a fake fan of the niners. You've named players that are not Rice or Montana. :D.

My wife is from the Bay Area. She's got a number of relatives that haven't been seen in any niners gear in decades, no talk of the niners ever, no sign of niner fandom in decades.. until just the other day. Those are fair weather fans. There's plenty of those. These are the same people that were talking about the warriors, and the Giants when they were good. Not a peep or sign of them being fans of those teams now.

Found the mail box behind the car yesterday. They plowed too close. Only the second time it’s happened, but I didn’t like having to get another bracket to remount it in the 20° weather. They would have fixed it if I wanted, but it’d be summer before they get to it.

Yes, I don't get why Pettine, the DC of GB didn't adjust to the run. Also, why they didn't run the ball more in the first half? Oh well. I'm happy they did as well as they did. One hell of a season. They should be able to play in the free agent market after letting at least Jimmy Graham go. The free agents they added, the Smith's, Amos, Ervin, and Veldheer were all extremely solid pickups. This year's draft was a great one too. 2020 looks like it's loaded at WR, and Aaron needs that.

You've tried monkeying with the settings on the HVAC, right? Yota sometimes has odd thoughts on how they should work. I'll look up to see what could be the matter.

That's a 4.7 right? Since you said it just had the timing belt replaced, a year ago, did they put in a new water pump at the same time? Since you have to remove the pump to change the timing belt, it's usually customary to put a new water pump in at the same time. When we changed tthe timing belt on our 4.7 v8 4runner, at just over 100k, the pump just started leaking. Nothing you'd notice until you started to R&R it...

How old is the radiator? I'd still look at the water pump.

Yes it the 4.7. The water pump was replaced as well. Will keep an eye on the situation and continue to report back if anything turns up.

Edit: Radiator is original, and will check that as well.
