I was cutting this afternoon. Saw runs out of gas. It had just started to snow. I quickly filled up gas and oil, walked back to the cut and couldnt figure out what was hitting my leg? I forgot to put the oil cap back on. All over my new work pants and old boots! I was not happy! Not the first time ive done this either! Im throwing them out unless someone has a trick to save them.
Brad, Brad, Brad...…. Try soaking the oil stained (great water repellent now) pants in dawn dish soap of maybe laundry detergent inside a water bucket. You can concentrate pretty much soap in that bucket. Probably always have that stain visible though.
They're Dickies polyester work pants, navy blue. Stains dont bug me. Within 2-3 uses my work pants get some type of stain, be it paint, caulk, roofing cement. Just bought some new ones right before Christmas!
I am good at that. Can go many times and not have that accident. Then, I can be cutting and do that two or three times during a work session. Gives the bib overalls a weathered look .
Ive tried to get into a routine i call the six step. 1 remove gas cap 2 fill gas 3 put gas cap on 4 remove oil cap 5 fill oil 6 put oil cap on I was doing okay til i got to number six! My brain is always one thought ahead of me!
I see the problem. You ran out of counting fingers on the other hand. The purple "zep" degreaser sold at HD will take oil stains out of cement. If you use it, start with less than you think you need! But it'll work.

Did it with the oil cap once. If there's this many of us admitting it, and some others having done it but not admitting it, then I'd say that's a normal occurence every now and then. Feel better now Brad?
leave the pants out in the rain for a couple of days. with the cold weather coming might have to substitute a 5 gallon bucket of water, some swishing and stirring and hurry up the process. I've never forgotten to put the cap back on. I have put gas mix in the oil reservoir. edit: yet
That would be a new one for me. Course, now I'm screwed... My super secret cleaner that I'm 100% certain you all have in your houses. Wood Ash. Put a cup or two of it in a gallon or so of warm to hot water, stir it around, Dawn & Borax won't hurt either.
