Thinking of selling mine. What says the forum for an asking price?

    NorthStar 37 ton
    honda 270 engine
    vertical/horizontal
    4 way wedge (removable)
    5" cylinder
Bought in 2011 for just under 2K (tax, hyd fluid, 4 way, ext service plan)

Have only used "corn free gas" in it and has always started...I think it went 5 pulls once to get it going.

    Inside storage and clean

I’d say at least $1,500. What are you looking to buy after the sale of this one Dave?

I originally bought it since I was cutting truckloads of cull wood. gnarly knotty twisted deformed crap that even the mills wouldn't take.

I don't see myself buying truckloads any longer.

the splitter gets fired up maybe twice a summer lately. Not too much use to justify moving it around/taking up space.

I think $1500 is a fair asking price but considering what they go for new you may have to be flexible on what you get.
What I would be interested in, has the manufacturing changed since 2011? I remember reading Tractor supply used to sell
a quality splitter but then started getting them from china and the same brand became junk.

I think the new ones have changed a little bit as far as placement of leg supports for horizontal and vertical modes use. Small tweaks like that kinda changes.

New ones on sale for just over 1800.

75% of purchasing price but perhaps willing to come down a little bit but not much.

I like the 4-way and am glad I have included it in the purchase. Only a couple of times I've had it off when I first got the splitter. I was splitting the huge gnarly, twisted, knotty, no tree wants to admit to raising this piece of wood type stuff.

Trailers and splitters sure seem to hold their value, especially if they look good. Id prolly start high and come dowN if it doesn’t move. May sell faster and better $ late summer fall .

Exactly! that's when I heard the "log splitter wanted" ads on the radio. I think I told them I was asking 1400 and then you could hear silence on the other end of the phone...……… "Um, I was looking for something less". Its the area I'm in.

    OK.

May have to wait for the guy that’s more serious than average joe homeowner.
Average Joe sees them at the BBS’s for $900-$1200 new. Joe doesn’t realize the value of heavier beam , bigger pump, ram and motor (Honda) and 4 way with a bigger ram to get it through.
