It's winter, it comes and we deal with it. NH's economy depends on it, worth Billions of dollars. We have no sales or income taxes, but we have meals and room taxes (hotels/motels). Skiers and snowmobilers spend all those billions as our economy depends on tourism. No snow means revenue drops significantly, Maine and Vermont's economy likewise is very tourism dependant, but unlike us they are not tax free.

Amen on the taxes! Maine is pretty consistently ranked as one of the heaviest tax burden states, and it’s been #1 if it isn’t now. It sucks but we just don’t have enough revenue/population to support such a large state in this climate. I know the coastal counties except Washington could do it on tourism alone but the rest of the state would suffer even more than it does now. They’re talking about raising more taxes to fix the roads again, a perpetual issue that we continue to get further behind on. I love it anyway. At least we have a budget surplus lol.

25 out 73 in. Been burning cherry and elm this evening, elm, locust and white oak in the wings. Snow overnight turning to sleet, freezing rain in the morning, looks like I am getting skunked for wood cutting again. Still ahead and have the oak kitchen chairs if needed.

It still blows my mind that anyone can stand it. Guess its just what you get used to, but i couldnt do it. Interesting about the taxes, i didnt know NH didnt have sales or income tax.

I skied once, and ex was liked skiing and i got drug into it. It was the downhill kind, it wasnt pretty (even the bunny slope) and i promised i wouldn't do it again if i lived through that day. I might could cross country type sky if i had to, but this ol boy aint made for trying to stand on flat sticks and go down a grade, on snow, and stay upright.... Anywho, enough about that.... Glad there are folks who like to ski to support the economy!

-5 here this morning. There was Beech and Ash for the overnight. Put some long and large White Pine splits in about 5am. These were about 25” long and 10-12” across. Just fit length wise. Chamber is 26”.

12 here. New issue this year. Chicken eggs freezing before we can get to them. My water heater contraption seems to be good to about 15-20. Below that and it freezes up.

This winter is 99% maple. Can’t wait to get into the red oak next year. Might have to go looking for some splits with the moisture meter. Just happened to workout that way with the wood scrounging when I got started.

10° here, burning the last of the black birch. Then I'll be into the woodshed, will be moving wood out of there in my snow saucer by tomorrow. We're supposed to get 6", with high of 40° tomorrow, then below freezing next week. I really feel bad for those poor people in Newfoundland.

27 out, 72 in, just put some cherry in the Buck. Got about 3" of snow over night and now it's misting drizzle. Going to be a sloppy mess and then turn cold tonight.

17* out 68* in...just started snowing here. Sound like it may get messy later with snow turning to ice or rain or both. I'm trying to burn down some coals to load the stove for the day. I need to cut some pine for next year...

Looks to be maybe 3" outside? I'll get a better look at daybreak. It is snowing at the moment.

20f waiting for me out there.
