A friend of mine in NH, has a metal roof. As snow slid from the roof, it piled up against a door just like your picture. He was able to carve shelves into it, and kept beer there. The snow insulated the beer from really frigid temps. Beer didn't freeze.
You better close that door, you'll get a draft in that 5" space! Sooo, I gotta ask, how on earth do you start clearing that? Be safe!
I was watching that low deepen on the euro model through Mikes weather page spaghetti models as it passed safely passed us and wondered why I hadn’t heard anything on the news in your neighborhood.
In my experience go out a window and start digging. At some point tunnels are better as they stay clear..
