Not a big load but was all about my ankle would take. Not sure what kind of wood it is. Mostly this bark and end grain.

Redneck if you're on crutches, now is the time to take a break from hoarding. I bet you're ahead on the wood pile? No sense risking another or further injury.
And to think.... some folks don’t even think about working on their hoard... even w/out the impediment of crutches.
Not running a saw yet. Just scrounging when i can. Have not had much scrounging places this year so far. Both of my tree service guys retired this year. Scrounging has been slim lately. Got to get it when i can. I have two hairline fractures in my right ankle this is like the third or fourth time this has happened since i crushed it twelve years ago.

That's exactly how I feel! If you don't play injured, you'd just be riding the bench. Consider it physical therapy, without the irritating physical therapy bills.
Yes, I have often worked when hurting but not sure about broken bones. Then again, if doctor said that loading heavy wood rounds was OK....
I crushed my foot and was in a cast for a year. Once the bones start knitting back together and you can stand up without the damaged area throbbing like mad you're ready to get back out and do things. The cast ( or whatever they call some of the plastic things they use these days) constrains and limits movement of the affected area so it's not like you're stopping healing as long as you don't ruin the cast.
