72 can't stop aging, so i just enjoy it to the fullest, shooting for 90 with another buddy of mine. Honestly, proud to have made it this far, NEVER dreamed id see 72. especially after the years 67/68 at that time, every one in a country far , far away was trying to kill us. So far, so good.

    Used to say..
"Twice as old as I used to be, and half as old as I'm gonna be."

But @ 51.. Don't think that applies any longer.

    So..
    51 going on 18

    double nickels...56 in March.

    Prices in 1964:
    • Price of a new Ford Mustang was $2,368.
    • The average annual income was $6,080
    • The median price for a new home was around $20,000
    • The average price for a gallon of gas was 25¢
    • First-class postage cost 5¢
    • A loaf of bread averaged 22¢
    • Coffee was 79¢ a pound
    • A gallon of milk averaged $1.08
    • A telephone call from a pay phone was 10¢
    • A 26″ color TV averaged $379
    • Minimum wage was $1.15
    • Around 60% of the population smoked, and paid on average $1.60 per pack of cigarettes
    • The average movie ticket was $1.00
The world population was 3.7 billion in 1964

The world population has more than doubled since I was born to 7.7 billion today.

Besides all the changes, I noticed that age 55 is a little different than 50 in that doing things I used to take for granted may hurt me. For example we had a family foosball tournament Christmas. I was good for the first two games, but noticed that my elbow was a little sore afterwards. The third game it really started to hurt! Well, it still is a little sore now! I take more advil now than I used to.

That amount is WAY out of line! More like 35 cents, tops, for cigs.

Too true, I remember when I could buy a pack of smokes from a vending machine with paper route money.

$.75 or $1 depending on where.

I had a friend who used to reach up into the cig machine and was able get a pack or two out sometimes. He seemed to like Benson and Hedges from what I recall. He was 13 going on 18 at the time. I used to just watch his antics. Luckily I never took a liking to smoking cigs to any degree.

    :thumbs::thumbs:

Bad habit that is unhealthy and hard to quit.

But yeah, the cig machine at the military recruitment office was an "easy snag" machine.

Guess I earned those ones in the long run.
