Temperature was rising all night long. Before hitting the sack I put in 3 really small pieces of wood then let the fire die. Still was 75 inside this morning. 47 outdoors now. Amazing winter we are having but looks like we start paying tomorrow.

Warming up quick here in the Northeast. 3 splits of red maple in the stove a few minutes ago, but that's it for the weekend. The bugs are out flying around already, sheesh.

Won't last, snow and cold for a week from now:

Weather-guessers are thinking 4.7 inches of snow next weekend.

If your wife is fully dressed you need another cord on the fire

We'll probably see a few flying insects by the end of this weekend. I saw pussy willows out yesterday.

Bugs are out here, fruit trees are budding. 57 outside and don’t have a fire going. 30 degree temp drop coming this evening. I’ll start a fire this afternoon.

Crazy that your ground isn't frozen yet. Rope has to learn how to share!

Single digits below zero here. We've got some big splits of sugar maple and birch blazing away in the hearth, and hot coffee in hand. Feels nice!

We are finally getting into a solid 10 days or more of periodic snows and cold temperatures, which is good for our ice, driving out on the lake, and fresh snow for banking my shanty. Luckily my wife also loves cold weather.

Morning everyone, 41* here and no fire. South of us the temps are in the 50's and it's supposed to be that here later. I think our snow pack is keeping the temps. down for now.

41 here also headed for 55 today, 77 inside with no reload planned until tonight or maybe tomorrow. It’s supposed to be colder tonight with freezing rain tomorrow, but it’s possible the worst will be just north of us. Great day to clean the cat again. I might try a vinegar spray for the first time just because.
Oh, and I better fire up the new generator for the fire time today AHEAD of the storm. Ya never know...stay safe and warm everyone! Looks like northern VT, NH, and central Maine are in line for major icing tomorrow but far northern Maine is supposed to get snow. They’re the lucky ones I’d say.

9f an hour ago. about an inch of fresh stuff=just enough to have to put the shovel down. Sounds like SE WI will be getting a blast starting tonight-along with southern L.P.

    You guys be careful!

Right where I want to be.
Very light coating of ice under maybe a 1/4" of snow this morning.
We're due for a fair amount of snow later.
Saw it coming and did a big shopping trip yesterday (nope, no TP, milk, or whatever else is on the "stock up" list).
Pantry's pretty full, so's the fridge.
VERY light snow falling ATM, and thinking of having a fire. 26 OAT, and 68 IAT. It'll be more Beech and some small Ash kindling splits again.
Should be kinda cold tonight at about 10-11, so fire tonight too. The furnace can have it's turn just before I get up in the morning, then it'll be fire.

Only rain so far. The back edge of the storm is not very far from us and we're hoping we've dodged another one.
