Couple broken bricks and that wonderful "magic box". That's not really a fault of the stove though. :picard:

What papadave said but also is the price too high? Hard to see such a thing wrong with it if you’re not used to seeing the wrongs.

I know it’s not these bi-focals because I still see it when I take them off. Maybe my head is lopsided...or tilted. Lol!! No...I’m not talking about the magic heat either. Take a look at that stove outlet collar.

Yeah that is definitely off but most likely the collar was likely loosened to pry off the rest of the venting ? Or adjustment for the angle of the venting itself? I’m aware of some pretty ridiculous looking venting to which gets bent to run along the wall and contour of the ceiling to accommodate exits out of the roof. I’m sure of seeing a couple where the exit was put in the wall and looking at it as if it were some 90° job gone wrong. Just some stoves have had to get that job done but it does limit the efficiency a bit, draft becomes altered.

I think anyone would be hard pressed to screw up a generally heavy made part of the stove like an outlet collar, short of a torch and grinder/welder. Most of those collars are pretty heavy these days. If this is not the case then I’d hate to see them open the cook top on that stove because it and the collar are one torqued/warped sum-buck.

The pics of the T6 in the ad you posted shows the pipe and magic heater leaned to one side. The stove pipe is over the actual collar. The collar is probably fine.
I have a T6 in my basement. When I pull the stove pipe away from the wall connector for cleaning it looks the same.
On a side note, I would like a Woodstock IS or AS in the basement but can’t justify the cost. The T6 works just fine and I don’t light the basement stove unless it gets 20 degrees or less for extended periods. I would like a ash pan and cleaner glass though.

Looks to me like that is some seriously clean glass. Like magically clean. As if there were not even any glass in the door at all..... :) Although there maybe a little bit of creosote at the bottom, otherwise it looks like the glass is missing.

Could be you're right. It's a little tough to see without having one and knowing what to look for. I was looking at only the base of it...like a crack on the right side...probably the lower part of the heat reclaimer like you say.

Does it not throw heat the way you like it? I would think that stove would be upstairs...but seems you replaced it with a Progress. Any particular reason? How do you like the cook top on the Alderlea? I had looked at it but wanted more radiant heat than convective. What's your opinion of both functions of that stove, since you have other/another stove to compare it to?

By the way, I have my Hitzer wood/coal hooked up and ready to roll. Just waiting on this warm spell to leave.

Something definitely looks a bit wonky with that T6, besides the trivets not being lined up although I've heard that isn't a very uncommon issue. My T5 lines up just fine though. It almost looks like one of them is bowed or something but I think it's more of a bad picture/angle than anything. Hard to tell I guess.

Looks like the trivet tops are sagging toward the middle. Could be from failing to lube the pivots.
Yeah, gonna cost you more that $980 to have a stove you can use.
On the plus side, judging from the T5 I got my SIL the PEs don't have a smoke roll-out problem, so you could run it like that for a while until you can save up the money for the glass. ;)

No glass and it has a muffler welded to the top of it.

The T6 is a serious heater and performs well. The Progress Hybrid with the rear venting option works better in the upstairs location. The ease of ash management and the control of coaling is handled better by the PH.
Both stoves have served duty for cooking and warming food. The T6 has the nice warming shelves or the hot cook top. The PH has three levels of burners. It is really about preference, the PH is easier for me to run 24/7. The T6 throws serious heat and will hold heat and coals for 10-12 hours and really helps when the temps get low. I haven’t really noticed a difference between the radiant and convection heat. The T6 is in a smaller area than it should be. I put a fan on the floor of the unfinished basement and push cold air to the stove. It warms up the basement and also some heat flows upstairs.
If I had a IS or AS I might keep the stove running downstairs for longer periods of time. Maybe I’m just a fanboy for Woodstock stoves. Over the years I have played and helped friends with different stoves and I always gravitate back to Woodstock. No disrespect for other brands, I just get along very well with Woodstock.

At first I thought the top of the stove until I read that the top actually opens up.

OH, yes, it is a fireplace at the moment and not a stove.
