Roundabout is mediocre at best IMO. Not bad but not great. Havnt been there in years though. If in Portsmouth area we usually end up at Golden Egg-good food but $$

Sophies is my current favorite but dont go there in the last hour before closing, the quality drops like a rock. After three consecutive experiences in last hour of operation over past year we wont be doing that again. But get there earlier (if you can get in the parking lot) and its really good food at good prices.

Guilty, but only a little bit on an omelet if it doesnt have enough taste. I almost always get omelets when eating our for breakfast or lunch-the more ingredients the better for me so really let down when its bland. The locations with bland are nixxed-means their quality of ingredients just isnt there

Went out yesterday and replaced the heater fan motor in our Astro van...

    ARRRRRRRGH.....
The beast had been sounding like a pack of Coyotes for a while until it warmed up a bit....
This past week its been quite annoying most of the time.
The fan is right in under the RH front fender right under the hood...sounds easy....

    NOPE
Remove the windshield washer/radiator overflow combo bottle and you're looking at the fan....sort of.

There is a plastic cover over the motor that has this printed on
    it...
"Cut between the ribs to remove the fan"

    https://www.astrosafari.com/gallery/image.php?image_id=81490

Took about an hour of careful cutting with a box knife and my pocket knife to get that bad boy off (And in one piece)

Getting the old motor out and the new one back on....15 minutes...

    Absolutely stupid design.

The shield/ sound deadener panel should have been made in two pieces and fastened on with two screws.

THERE IS ONE SCREW that goes through the cover to retain it if you replace it...

READ THIS AS "IF IT'S STILL IN ONE PIECE"

All back together and works fine.

We are not going to have any decent weather for quite a while SNOW COMING
so I wanted the job done.

Got some good fender rash on my left hand, but to real blood letting.....

The next task is to replace the Alternator.

These are not bad at all...just need to yank the air filter box and the top of the fan shroud off and it's easy to get to.

Alternator is getting noisy and every so often it does not start to charge until the engine has run for 5-10 seconds... (It's on borrowed time)

I found a nice one at the local bone yard upullit that appears to be a really fresh rebuilt one.

Next decent day that bad boy is getting dealt with.......
I love the little van... easy to get into the tight parking spots in the medical center and just nice to drive.

The Astros seem to live forever... Ours has 230K on the clock and runs like a champ...

Bought the little fella for $1500 back in Feb 17 and it was great...accept the rear end sounded like a 5 alarm cat fight.

Took it apart and replaced all the bearings, both axles (Bearing surfaces were roached)

One diffy side gear had turned to crap and filled the unit full of metal.....

A trip to the bone yard and grabbed the innards from a good one along with a couple decent axles....good to go.

Found a complete bearing and seal kit on ebay for real cheap.

I was amazed...even with all the chewed up crap in the box....the ring and pinion were in fine shape.

    The beast is really quiet....

Biggest issue was cleaning all the metal junk out of the inside.

Lotsa solvent,,,, rags and a bit of elbow grease...added a fresh magnet on the cover...

Never seen a gear worn like this one.....the side gear teeth on one side were almost gone.

I run Silent Robot's Salient OS (nVidia optimized version of Arch) on my i9-9900k/RTX2080ti gaming rig, run Mint 19.3 on the other computers in the house. Intel's Clear OS linux is interesting too. Rarely boot into Win10 anymore (all my pcs dual boot Win 10 & Linux).

I scrapped my last Win 7 machine back in 2012 and loaded up Zorin Linux on my machine.

I simply got tired of having to pay protection money :makeitrain"all the time to try and keep the crap out of the works.

Since going with Linux I have not had a single issue with VIRUSES, TROJANS, MALWARE, AND SUNDRY OTHER JUNK....

Today was an off-Friday so after doing some domestic chores and reading spent from 10:30 until 2 Cleaning up the invasive roses that are growing in the swamp next door, They've gotten to crowding my fence and hanging over so that mowing is a hazard in that area. Not anymore

    Roses over fence before cutting.jpg

The piles of brush don't look that large for as much time as I spent (I just noticed that this was taken before I found another patch back where the fence goes around the 3-pronged tree). But, it was slippery and the branches/vines were so intertwined that it was tough to work thru them with the clippers. The clippers have about 2 or 3 feet of extension in the handles so I clipped as far back across to the far bank as I felt comfortable reaching. Roses and fence after cutting.jpg

I also raked up as much detritus as I could from the stream and along the outside of the fence. Took 2 trips to the dump to get rid of all the brush. I'll still have some more clean up to do but it will take more snow and some colder temps to make the footing outside the fence more stable. Definitely do NOT want to slip and end up face first in a forest of prickleys!

Yup-that place is definitely top notch. And talk about a great omelet-Formans Omlette is fantastic-and soooo big that I take half home. Prices are on the high side but you get so much in quality and quantity that you can't complain. Nothings is bad there. My better half generally gets a combo that includes eggs, bacon, home fries and 2 huge blueberry pancakes that are to die for. Again, half of that comes home too.

Now the rub-try and get in there. Generally we are out on Saturday or Sunday late mornings and its almost always way too crowded with lots of people waiting outside so we pass on by. If there is none or only one or two parties waiting then we will go on in.

We were regulars when they first opened but after a few years word got out and they exploded. Kudos that they have not gone down in quality-and yes we have gone in 20 minutes before closing and food is as good as ever

Another good spot is Kellys a little further up-but we havnt been there lately and not since Kelly passed away. What a shame as she was an awesome person and a great cook.

Oh yeah... for sure... you have to get there before 7:30, if you want a short wait!
In the summer, they give you one of those beeper things, so you can sit outside..
Omelets are crazy big.... Homefries if you get them loaded... holy moly..
In my top 2 places... another one is Northwood Diner.. Sausage benedicts... OMG..
