I saw 18* over night . Presently *46 outside and 68* inside. Stove is chugging away with the Ash I put in this morning. I will probably load up before going tp bed. High tomorrow *55 with rain. Saturday *64 high with rain. *64 in January? Locust Post says "If your wife is fully dressed you need another log on the fire." That may not be a true statement. With the women in this household, I would have to deforest the whole county to get enough wood to make it happen.
Looks like some areas out east could get a little bit of shovel-able substance this weekend! Good, better them than me!
The forecast I'm quoting was on the weather channel and showed some states in the north and east with areas of over 12". That is paralyzing for those cats. Northern maine, n h vermont and tip of ny. YMMV
Ouch thats chilly! We are -17c/1.5f right now. We are supposed to get below -30c/-22f a few days down the road but we will see. Sitting in the rec room in shorts a few minutes away from a larch reload.
We still have quite a few inches of frozen snow here and don't need anymore yet till the icy crap is gone
Saw some low teens past few nights...Right now 28. I have ash, red oak and what I believe is hard maple? Didn't mean to hijack the thread to a wood ID....but was getting curious on what I have...I will have to post split pics. Wood is at 17 to 19 percent MC, and heavier than oak. Leaves awesome coals too...Funny story on how I got it too...
26*out 70* in....just put a piece of basswood on to burn down coals. I'm not gonna reload this morning. Supposed to get in to the 40s today.
Pine on coals from overnight. Supposed to be 60ºF this weekend so the stove will probably be getting some time off.
22 out 76 in with coals. 40 today, 50 tomorrow, then ice on Sunday still predicted, heavy snowing up north. Grocery stores will be overrun today!
We're getting our usual mid-winter thaw. Won't last, of course, and what's left of the snow will turn to our other usual.....a skating rink. Snow coming tonight, and sounds like we'll get anywhere from an inch to a foot. Most of the bit of snow on the roof last night is gone, as it got warmer as the night went on. 40 now, going to 43, then dropping later. No burn, but if I were, it'd be Beech or some small Ash kindling type pieces.
I'm just west of Boston and winter has been so mild for us.However just several miles west or north they're getting a more normal winter with snow and cold strange. Now it'll be hitting around sixty come Saturday and Sunday ridiculous.
