Get a call from a friend who often needs trees cut down, and helps me scrounge. asks if I want some wood. (is he kidding?) of course not, I don't want wood, I NEED IT!!!! LOL!!! pull the trailer. not only does he have a helper to grab the brush, he has a machine to load up the logs. I offer to run my saw. (least i could do) while we drop a couple mulberry's, a hackberry, and a cherry. plus he threw in a couple chunks that were cut and split a few years ago. ready to burn today in the owb. they were much lighter than they looked. [/IMG]
then split up some cottonwood, its kinda stringy sometimes. I was hoping the cold temps today would help it split easier. I should of cut it yesterday let it sit all night, then split it. woulda worked better than cutting and splitting the same day. hind-site it 20/20. below is a view from inside the skid loader with the splitter up in the air. i tried to shake off these few pieces.
with all the small diameter stuff, I decided to make a tote for boiler kindling. this stuff comes in handy on the days when the coals are minimal and you wanna get the fire up and rolling quick. after seasoning for a year or 2 its nice to keep this somewhere close to the owb.
I started laying out the logs from the scrounge. I got all these logs and some more cut up. but got into work mode and forgot to snap a few pics after cutting.
Real nice looking load of wood Felter Ive done that too...get into a zone and forget to take pics! Or more often, forget to take the camera with me. I have a cheap flip phone. It has a camera but i have no clue how to get a pic here!
LOL!!! trying to get on the 3 year plan. prolly only burning 7 cords this year. (down from 30 cords) plus have enough to sell to a couple other owb owners, to offset my costs.
wow. buZZsaw BRAD, commented on my thread?? I'm pretty much famous now. I watch your posts every day. you get me motivated to cut, split, stack, scrounge, etc... thanks for chiming in. I also have a cheap flip phone. I take pics with an old school camera. Young ppl see it and ask what it is. I drop my flip phone weekly. lets see those phones made of glass do that.
Glad to be a positive influence! Thank you for the kind words! I try to comment on everyones hoarding threads. One thing i really enjoy is seeing what other folks are scoring, working on, how they do it etc! I learn a lot too. An impressive operation you have going on there! I had an iphone years back and it died after a few drops. Between that and the high monthly bill i said thats it and went W/O a phone for a few years and finally went the cheapo route a couple years ago.
I also enjoy watching others scores, and I learn more and more all the time. I'd say I'm the most knowledgeable person on firewood and chainsaws I've ever met in person. on this site though, the exact opposite. LOL!!
