Outside of the pulled pec muscle, I have picked up a cold virus somewhere; probably at the New Year Eve party or the gathering on New Year's Day. I seem to get sick every year at the end of the year or the beginning. I know there was a person that was sick at the NYE party and was at the gathering on New Year Day. Sister #2 is sick as well and it sounds like she has the same symptoms as I do. I am real careful when out in the shops but at the parties I get involved with having fun and slip up; not washing hands after handling utensil that other have handled etc.

With being sick and the pulled pec muscle I haven't done a lot. Today I went out to see about getting some wood in before the rains moved in and noticed I have a double row stack of wood that is the Bradford pear and the flowering cherry; both which are low moisture. I noticed some talk about cherry being a smoker wood but this is not a true fruit cherry but one of the hybrid flowering varieties. The cherry was a fairly good size tree as was the Bradford. Sometimes I think the little grey cells are not what they use to be.

I’ve used cherry both ways, doesn’t seem to make a big difference. Wild cherry is Usually what I find but even flowering cherry seems to taste by and by the same or similar. Best thing to worry about would likely be if it was sprayed or not. Unfortunately this is quite hard to do.

It was in my sister's front garden, never sprayed. It got crushed when a storm took down an oak in her front garden; it was broken up so badly that she decided to take it to the ground. Maybe I will save a bit of it; I have never done any BBQ smoking.

Good luck with health problems! Two issues at once is tough!

Save a couple branches that are finger width or two. The less bark the better so if you’re just starting to deal with smoking, “go slow and low” as they say. By the time August hits, you just might be able to use it, being so small. Post in the Smokehouse section if you can, looking forward to it! Sorry about the injury indeed though.
