Let's see.....For me to accomplish this I would have to: 1. Pay $10K, or more, to go to a trade school for a couple of years to learn welding and machining. 2. Spend $20K for welders and machine tools to do the job. Nope, I just drove my old beat car to Tractor supply and purchased a 25 ton splitter for $899. Wow! I just saved myself at least $25K! I'm as proud of that as the the guy is for building that nice blue splitter. Those that can, do. Those that can't, go to Tractor Supply.
That’s not the first thing he has ever built I’m guessing. & He has a lot of nice toys to work with. Pretty ingenious I think. Way nicer and safer than some of the other videos of splitting contraptions we’ve seen
Yep , I really thought the guy new what he was doing until that point in the video. Then I figured he has to be some distant Polish relative of Backwoods Savage ! Where’s the milk crate ?
I want those 13 minutes of my life back...... The fabrication was top notch, the design was exceptional, the end result was a solid WTF?
No refunds. Why do you say what you did? There are other mechanical splitters on the market; what was it about this one that makes you say WTF?
Time and materials vs. output of the finished product. It's slow and limited in capacity. The same end result could be achieved by other more cost effective means.
I agree with this statement. Workmanship is good but the end result is pretty bland. Component cost is high but I guess he could have made it from his stash, designed around what he had sorta thing.
It is a neat concept and he does a good job, but it looks ripe with issues. Electrical issues would be my concern. So much dust. mud, rain etc. I realize the controls are in a rated enclosure, but I do not want to get out a mutlimeter when the splitter stops. Gas, oil, plug, coupler, mechanical failures....all things I can see and fix!!! to each their own though!!
What happens when the sled assembly binds up in the track with wood detritus; it won’t retract and then he will have to monkey around with it all the time to reset. That was a whole bunch of time, money, and wasted skills to not start with a good design in mind.
Man, he can sure fabricate... ... as others have said tho, not worth the or building time, if ya can drive down to the splittah store and buy one cheap that, ya know, splits wood...
I run an electric motor on a Super Split, not an issue. Lots of motors in outdoor applications. I don't stand in the pouring rain, but I don't do that with the gas engine either.
