Wow no idea where you are in Indiana but somebody in that area has got to be looking for some talent. Your trainees sound better than management.

a kid I was a Big Brother to, would be frustrated at the restaurant he worked at. The things managers did and tolerated frustrated him. I told him to learn what they do that is good, and don’t do the dumb stuff if you are in that position.

a few months after turning 18, he became the manager at a Taco Bell.

This is exactly why the electoral college must be protected.

The kids need to be more specific and show the parallels between what they did and what they are applying for. If their work was accomplished with little supervision, then that needs to be mentioned also. They may have prioritized jobs to account for the weather. They were most likely tasked with ensuring their work environment and work habits were conducted in a safe manner (maybe according to accepted safety standards - ie PPE and as described for tools/equipment in use). They may have done trouble-shooting or repair on a mechanical woodsplitter that broke down. They may have set up and broken down the work area each day etc.

Because city folk aren't aware of what it takes to work on a farm, you have to tell them. Just as I have had to do every time I've looked to change jobs (Document Control or Quality Engineer titles don't tell anyone anything about what I can do or what I might be capable of).

One other thing I think we might be missing, 15 years olds That have done real work, might be a little intimidating to 18-year-olds managers that really haven’t:whistle:

I worked on farms during the summer months starting after finishing 8th grade. Starting pay was one dollar a day and all the food I could eat. Summer after HS I was working at a private girls camp taking care of horses. I got that job because I had asked about the work. I found out later that other applicants didn't get the job because they had asked about the benefits. Best job ever. No hanky-panky stuff but we were able to play tennis twice a day, at least, had our own swimming area, went on trail rides if horses were available, had laundry services provided, etc, almost liked a paid vacation:thumbs::thumbs:
