Someone dumped these logs on the edge of my property a few days ago. I’m sure they thought they were being sneaky. They drove all the way up to my mountain property to get rid of their “city” wood for free. The wood is wet because of the snow. But it’s seasoned. It’ll dry out over a couple of sunny days this winter. It’s not a native wood to my area. I wish I could thank them! I’ll split it and burn it! Don’t know what it is, but I didn’t have to work for it!
Exactly! You may end up with a water heater, refrigerator, used carpeting...who knows, right? May be time for a sign? Yeah, I know, signs only keep honest people honest.
Yeah. I did think about that. My hope is that they only dumped it because it is wood, and not trash. Maybe they felt like they weren’t littering and just needed to get rid of it? I do have a handful of trail cams on my property, but none pointed where they dumped it.
Having to clean up after someone else that used your property as their own personal dump sounds like work to me.
Nah, I just tossed them into my truck. I can handle it. I’d have to go find the wood and cut it up myself anyway.
Santa Claus had some leftovers and needed to dump them off before returning to the great white north.
So if it was expended tires that were dumped that would be just as acceptable ? Picking up either is still work. Whether you place any value on the objects dumped is another matter. If you were to catch them dumping would you have them dump in a better location next time ? One that would possibly require less work for you ? I'm not differentiating between enjoyable/unenjoyable work. I'm just calling work work. It's also nitpicking, but so what.
I’d be bothered by tires for sure. But I don’t have a use for used tires. The spot they dumped the wood in was actually pretty good placement. It was next to the dirt road on the edge of the property. So I just pulled over and tossed them in on my way home from work. I’d probably request that they dump more logs in that spot in the future.
