Went with the Champion I think I would have liked either. The Champion has a slightly larger operator area; 3.5 inches more between the beam and the inside of the wheel and about a 1.5 inches more space between the operators left leg and the axle/hydraulic tank. Both are same height to beam. The Countyline has much better kickstand and spring pin for locking the unit in the horizontal position. I was able to wheel the unit out of the store myself with help from the Home Depot team getting it on the trailer. Very well balanced unit if you want to move it short distances by hand.
Tried calling that number, couldn’t get ahold of a person... Folks at the desk had never heard of a senior discount.
After much consideration, including factoring in the veteran discount I’m now the proud owner of a county line 25 ton log splitter. Both splitters had their advantages and both seem to be well liked. No kidding but the county line fired up on the first pull. I didn’t have a lot of wood processed to split but I did have some nasty hickory crotches I couldn’t split with a maul and the splitter ran like a champ. Tomorrow, I’m sliding by a TSC the next county over to pick up the log catcher. Many thanks for all the feedback provided. The champion appears to be a good machine but I got to speak with the mechanic who assembled the county line splitter the day before I bought it and it just felt right
Congratulations. Great splitter. We got the 30 ton Countyline in Sept '18. Just keep an eye on the oil filter. Ours has gotten loose twice.
Haha, that trailer was manufactured in the 90’s. I spent the better part of my spare time this fall stripping it down to bare metal and refinishing it. Won’t look nearly that nice after a few loads of wood come home in it.
