I too have snow come down on the driveway, front porch & steps, and the ramp to the back porch. The ramp is 30' long, but porch itself now has an extension over it so it doesn't get dropped on. I had a huge Willow damage that side of the roof a couple of years ago. So I kicked in money along with insurance, to get that extension put on while they had it apart anyway.

Yeah, dumapage from the metal roof can be a downside, but it beats all the snow raking I had to do winter of 2013/14 - which afterward I had to do the same shoveling .

I am not a US citizen! According to Social Security! I tried 3 times yesterday to apply for SS online and got turned down all 3 times. “go to your local office”.

So today I go to my local SS center. I waited about 25 minutes and got to a work station with a helper on the other side helping me. We got shot down 3 times there as well. My helper gets the manager over and he got shot down also. Manager says we are going to investigate this it might take a month. Their system says I was not born in the USA!

I will be 62 next month so I figure we got time to fix this. Halfway home my phone rings and it’s the local SS manager. He dug into my account and found out what is wrong. When SS went from paper to microfiche way back when (pre computer days even) whomever entered my data from paper put in my county of birth, state of birth, but left country of birth BLANK!

So now somebody in the Federal govt will soon call me on a three way call with the local manager. Date and time to be determined. The fed is going to ask me 3 questions on the phone: county of birth, state of birth, the country of birth. Then the fed will “fix” their screwup from the late 60’s and the local guy will then let me apply for SS on the same phone call. The manager explains to me that the locals do not have the legal power to “fix” a fed screwup. He said don’t worry you will get your first retirement deposit March 1st but I am still worried. Would you be?

They were OK with deducting FICA from your paycheck all those years... have you been getting those SS benefit estimates in the mail once a year?

The driveway in front of the garage is the only place I have to shovel it from ( the deck is optional). My philosophy is, better down than up!

I'd be keeping track of it. Are all your years of work credits there? Collect the correct fica and other?

They don’t mail those estimates any more. On line only I was told.

I started paying FICA when I was 15 and a half. All the way to age 57 when I retired. Start giving some of it back to me!

Well I still get them in the mail! Maybe there's a regional difference.

Replaced all the galvanized pipe that went to the guest bathroom. Replaced it with PEX. Well the shower and toilet terminated in copper the sink was galvanized. So I hooked to the copper that was there and ran new supply lines for the sink. I had to pull the vanity. The reason the lines are so far out in the floor is because the main beam runs under that vanity right next to the wall and I had to move it out to get by it. IMG_20191228_110956497.jpg

Finially finished up the concrete patch in my driveway over the holiday break. I have had this ditch dug up in my drive for almost two months.

Rain has kept delaying me. But I had enough dry weather and the puddles dried up and I was able to finish. I was half a bag short. So I went back a few days later, the bag I got was half hard. I took it back and got another one. Pretty good guestimate with a concrete calculator I'd have to say. Tomorrow it will be able to be driven on. I need to get the dirt out so I can use it again.

Had to fix the dryer. Pulley was frozen and the non resettable thermostat tripped. Watched youtube to figure out how to save that thermostat and reset it. Which is supposed to be a throw away part. Bought the pulley a few days before Christmas because the tensioner pulled was seized and being cut by the belt as it just slid over it. Sucked all the lint out of the dryer which is from poor draft because my run is too long and the extra lint caused it to over heat and thus the thermostats trip. I installed the auxiliary fan that I had laying around for a few months. Works great dry time is literally cut in half from before it went out. Power bill will come down for sure. The box above the fan is an auxiliary lint trap to deal with all the lint that hot buy the dryer. All this was due to lazy draft. It sits at an angle to lessen the extreme bends, no I was not drunk when I put it up. IMG_20191224_090537030.jpg
