I believe I read recently on another site that the OEM 79cc jug is closed port.

I've run a ton of Scott's stuff... Top notch saws, top notch cheesehead... Mitch's stuff is good to... He really likes the Autotunes for building..

Do they still do other people's saws on a regular basis? They just choose not to be a sponsor?

I have heard very good thing about both of them. But I didn't know if you had to be a close friend (I don't spend a lot of time over there).

I look forward to the shootout rankings Dex, great pics BTW.

Although a little heavy/bulky, the 64cc pulls bars longer than should be put on the saw with authority. I had a 6401 and it pulled skip tooth on a 30" bar with no problem.

They still do saws... Just don't post much anywhere...
Scott's trying to get the new sawmill up and rolling in addition to his dealership... PM me if ya want to contact either of them and can't using the normal methods..

Mitch loves some apple butter and good beer. Scott isn't hard to get a hold of either.

Yep. I ran a 28" full skip on mine, nuts deep in 4'+ red oak. It just does it that much better as a 7900.

I think a shootout of these 3 saws is a neat idea...
Though the 362 would be the favorite of the book makers, I sorta think the old school 6400 may surprise everyone...
    But I've been wrong before...

One thing is for sure about the Dolmar's oiler. . . It's not stingy :) This thing will oil like mad!! I turned it all the way down and it still will oil a 20" bar with ease.. :)

I imagine it is the same part found on the 7900....... Still better than the original MS460 oilers......

This oils much better than a regular 460 (not an R).

    I agree.

With all saws being stock, I believe the 6400 would surprise quite a few with a 30" bar. (Granted it is more than is ideal)

No. Just bought the wife a new car. All saw buying/porting are on hold currently. . :(

Except the 440/460 I have to buy for Joshmain. I could use that money to port the 555 and 6400... But then I would have a pizzed off buddy

Well, me and Joshmain ran these saws in the Cant I had left over from the GTG.

Granted the 6400 has about 3 tanks through it and a Muff mod (Cat gutted), but it beat the 555 (stock and 1 tank through it).

The times were about 9 seconds for the 6400 and just over 10 seconds for the 555.

Both saws were wearing the same Forester (junk) chain. Didn't retest both saws, but the 6400 picked up over a second with RS on it.

The Cant has gotten considerably dryer, harder, and it's "grabby" to cut in. Even the 441 lost a second and a half with same bar and chain set up at the GTG.

I can tell already that I love the torque of the 6400.. It's almost 4 lbs heavier than the 555 with same length bar. But it feels good in your hands.

    Those 6400s are strong.
