I was out on the pond Monday around mid day. It was just above 70 degrees and overcast. Not the greatest boating day, but I was quite surprised to have the entire place to myself on Labor Day!
It was a nice day for us on the lake too. 75, mostly sunny and pretty darn humid. The lake is still plenty warm too. That will be changing though...
The water temps have probably dropped at least 7 degrees here already. Everyone went for a short swim last Thursday or Friday. I dipped my foot in and took a hard pass.
It's still warm enough here in inland lakes to wade in the water the whole time, or swim if you want.
We were down on Mississippi around Wabasha MN today for a couples pontoon boat fishing excursion on the backwaters. The ladies talked while my friend and I caught some nice yellow perch before docking WI for lunch. Perch are among our favorite fish to eat, more so than walleye, and as much as bluegill. One of a few doubles we had. I'm the big galoot on the right. My friend is the owner of the pontoon, and hunting/fishing buddy since high school. Nice early fall day in the middle 60s.
We had a nice day on the lake today. The water is still warm enough to wake in, but not much longer if we have cooler nights though. 74° and mostly sunny with a light Westerly wind. Last year we were out in October, on an 84° day. I don't think that will be the case this year. We listened to most of the Wisconsin Badgers football game on the radio while on the lake.
Packing my travel bag this morning (Wal Mart sack) for a week of fishing and entertaining in Key Largo. Lets see. 3 underwear. 3 shirts. 2 shorts. Sandals. That oughta do it! Looking forward to helping a couple guys get out on the water. Good friends and good laughs are sure to be had. Fishing is a good excuse to get together. Cant wait to fix a batch of Ceviche. Ill see about posting a pic or two.
Jealous! Once I get settled in lake wales maybe you can come visit and help me destroy the shellcrackers and crappie.
Gonna winterize ours today......... O joy! Easy parts the etec. Might pizz the neighbors off though. Pic's to follow!
Yeah, show pics. From what I understand you just set it to winterize, and let it go. And drain / refill the lower unit
Yep, Thats all it takes. I'd have to do a video to get the full effect of how easy it is. Pullin all the goodies out. Hard to believe it holds all this! All ready, It has an expensive cover under the cheapy tarp. The tarp is just to make the sn*w slide off!!
I got mine winterized yesterday. The bottom plug on a Mercury 115 4 stroke is an absolute pain in the azz to R&R! 2 trips to the gas station to top off the tanks since the trailer is unregistered, and now I'm ready for shrink wrap tomorrow.
We had no legal grouper yesterday. Lots of Mangrove snapper and some Yellowtail. Heading north on bayside today up to Jewfish cut. Then ocean side to fish the structure. Record heat wave yesterday. 91f recorded. Mid to high 80's expected this week. Oh the horror
